7'Scarlet - Hino's Route Review

I don't know what to write here, except that I've now finished Hino's route, I'm writing a review on it, and that there'll be spoilers down below.

Let's start.

Hino's route. It's interesting. You find out more about the main mystery plot in this one compared to Isora's. I dunno why people recommend to play it first, because it seems like Isora's would be better.
This reminds me very much of Hiroya's route from Period Cube. If you've played that game, you'll probably understand why.

My brain feels a bit empty right now trying to remember the plot.

Most of it is just Hino and Ichiko wandering around town, trying to find out more about her brother's disappearance. We actually find some stuff out this time, about his personality and stuff, but they never say his name!! (Luckily I already know his name from the character cards, but I can't remember what he looks like) Apparently he was very protective of Ichiko. I think I heard somewhere that he's going to be a yandere. Brother characters usually are in otome games.

They also found out that Ichiko's brother's investigation case was stopped by the Murakumo family (Yuzuki's family), for some reason. Something is certainly very fishy here...

That creepy photographer (whose name I can't remember) gets stabbed. I remember Ichiko saying that he reminded her of her brother, so maybe he's actually her brother in disguise? From what I can recall from the free character cards that came with the game, Ichiko's brother had the same sort of hair colour as this photographer person.

The romance in this route is alright, I suppose Hino and Ichiko had a few decent moments. He's another one of those characters who has been in love with her since the first day they met as children. At least unlike Isora, Hino's actually been growing up alongside Ichiko, instead of meeting her once and being in love with the child version of her.

There seem to be a lot of water related scenes with Hino. First in the common route, where they go swimming, then there's the scene where they have to clean the baths together, then the scene where they drink Ramune together, then when they go swimming at night in a pool. The night time pool scene was actually quite cute. The CG was good too.

Hino's tragic backstory is that one day as a child, he took Ichiko out to this abandoned house. In there, he met a serial killer (which I bet is the same serial killer as the cat mask bloke they meet in Okunezato), who caught our heroine and threatened to kill her if Hino didn't shoot him. Hino panicked, but luckily Ichiko's brother came and shot the killer for him. (It sounds like this brother is a lot older than Ichiko if he's able to kill someone...) Since then, Hino's been living with the guilt of "not being able to protect her", and is also terrified of guns.

My brain still feels really empty when trying to write this. I suppose I can at least talk about the ending. First I got the normal end, because I accidentally picked one wrong choice that set me on the wrong path. It's still quite similar to the good ending, it just comes with an extra CG and Hino dies at the end.

Hino gets shot and has to go to the hospital. While Ichiko is looking after him, she gets a scary letter that basically says "meet me up in the forbidden mountain place at this time or else I'll kill your brother! oh yeah, don't tell anyone!". Of course, Ichiko goes all on her own, which is a bit stupid, but I suppose she didn't want her brother to die.

It's there where she finds her brother's jacket, and the cat mask murderer, with this other creepy hotel guest who I was quite sure was going to be the killer. Apparently, the only thing he wants to do is kill Ichiko because she's "special". He just killed the other people because they were in the way.

The cat mask man says that Ichiko's brother is dead, which I didn't believe because I'm pretty sure he has a route. Maybe he's only dead in this universe only. He probably said some other things too, but I can't remember them.

Hino runs onto the scene with his shot leg, and the cat mask man gives them a gun to shoot him with. Unfortunately, it has no bullets in it. However, the creepy bloke who I originally thought was the killer pushes the cat mask man off the cliff with him, and the day is saved. Hooray.

You know who I think the cat mask man is? The policeman, Yasu. He's such an incompetent imbecile who seems to put no effort into solving Okunezato's murder cases, but maybe he's just doing that because it's actually him behind it all? If you're the only policeman in the town, it would be quite easy for you to commit crimes and stuff. Also, he gets to guard all of the town's forbidden areas, so he can stop people from seeing all his murdered victims. I don't know. It's either Yasu or Ichiko's brother. Maybe when the cat mask man told our heroine in this route that her brother was dead, he meant that his personality had died and changed into a murderer? If he was capable of shooting that serial killer in the past, then that means he's no stranger to killing people. It could even be the photographer bloke, maybe he just stabbed himself to prevent people from suspecting him. He was also the one who handed Ichiko the mysterious letter telling her to meet up with the cat mask man. He did say that he had found it on the door, but maybe he didn't actually??? Because if the cat mask man broke into the hospital to put the letter on the door, someone would've obviously seen him unless he was undercover, as the creepy photographer man.

I bet all of you who have already played this game are reading my theories and laughing. It's probably someone I'd never even suspect, isn't it?

The next route I have to play is Toa's. I wonder how much more of the plot will be revealed there. The romance had better be good. Toa is up in the running for my favourite character in this game, even though I hardly actually know anything about him.

Well, that ends my review for today. Until next time, when my brain will hopefully be able to remember stuff better...
