Just keep in mind that I'm only reviewing Arthur's "route" for this post. I have no plans to go through any of the others. Anyway, Arthur's actual route's coming out soon, so I might as well write about him to hype up his release, even though I probably won't be playing it for a long time yet.
You know what, I only just realised that it's Arthur's face who is on the app icon. I always thought that it was Napoleon. The artwork is from his "Dripping Wet" gacha card, in case you were wondering.

I didn't try to be one of those people who ranks on this event, I actually have no idea how you do that, and because it looks like you have to spend actual money to get up on the charts. All of the people who rank really high have these avatars with loads of fancy clothes, so it's obvious they've spent a bit of dosh on the game. Personally, I don't think it's worth it, but those girls can do whatever they want with their money.
According to the small synopsis we have in the image above, this event is focused on jealousy. I've noticed that a lot of these events seem to be centred on stuff like this, all that female fantasy stuff. After all, it is an otome game! There was one on IkeSen I played ages ago that was like this, it had you and (insert warlord here) trying to look after someone's kid. I know for a fact that a lot of people like all that child raising stuff in their dating games.
These events have actual plots. It seems that they give you an unlimited amount of chapter tickets to read these stories with. You may think "Great, I can just breeze right through then!" but there are a few roadblocks along the way in the form of love challenges. Well, at least I think they're called that, I can never remember the names because each mobage calls them something different.
I can now see from this screenshot I took that they're called "Love Trials". Close enough.
The first time I got to a trial, I panicked and thought that it was going to be impossible, but then I waited a few hours to do the Love Battle again, and I immediately passed it. The other ones took me more tries to complete, but I knew that they were going to get harder as I went on.
I should probably now start talking about the actual plot, shouldn't I?
Arthur's story starts off with our lovely MC stacking books in the library. A few sentences later, our chosen love interest comes up and stares at our heroine, who happens to be high up on a ladder.
That's when we get this line:
(If the image doesn't load for you, Arthur says "From this angle, I have a clear view of your panties.")
What a delightful man he is. In real life I would probably want to slap him, but because I'm safely behind a screen, I just laughed. Dialogue like this just makes me enjoy Arthur's character even more.
This makes MC feel a bit uncomfortable, obviously. If my memory serves me correctly, she then falls off the ladder on top of Arthur, but then I think he flips her over. This may or may not have happened, so don't go quoting it in any online arguments. MC wants to break free from Arthur's grip, but of course he says "I wanna feel you a bit more, babe", or something perverted like that.
But then MC's technically saved when Theo comes in.
(If this image didn't load for you, it's just a screenshot of Theodorus saying "Looks like these two fools think there's a bed on the library floor.")
That line also got a chuckle out of me.
The only reason Theo came in is because he needs some free labour for this art exhibition he's hosting. MC states that she doesn't know anything about art, but she still offers to help anyway because she's nice. Theo then asks Arthur to help, but he tries to fob him off with a few lame excuses.
Theo's then says something like "But you're my friend!!!" and eventually manages to get the perverted author to help him out. He then works his two helpers really hard for days until they're tired out. I don't even think that he pays them either!
The day before the exhibition opens, Arthur is sitting with MC when he questions why she's continuing to help Theo. She replies with something about how passionate he is about this art project and something about wanting to see it through until the end. Then MC asks Arthur why he didn't think of a better excuse to get out of helping with the exhibition. But then she just falls asleep on him, because she was working super hard that day.
In her sleep, MC just randomly says Theo's name, which of course annoys Arthur.
It's then almost time for the gallery to open, and MC is standing there with Theo and Arthur, admiring their hard work. But then, out of nowhere, a painting just decides to fall on her. But of course, Theo manages to save her while Arthur saves the artwork. Luckily, nothing got damaged in the incident.
This is the bit where the jealousy stuff begins. Arthur notes how he wishes that he could've been the one to rescue MC instead of Theo, but just pretends that he cares about the painting more or something.

The exhibition starts, and MC decides to sit down with Arthur. She notes that when the painting fell, he was closer to her than Theo, but he hesitated and decided to save the artwork instead, because it's worth money and all that. So if he had just saved MC instead, he wouldn't have to be all jealous of Theo. I'm sure somebody else would've been there to stop the precious art from being destroyed.
I've taken a lot of screenshots of this, haven't I? Soon this post will have more of these than every other post combined!
MC then tells Arthur how wonderful he was to have protected the painting like that, which makes him even more thirsty for her.
Then he just walks away and other to Theo, who points out how Arthur seems to be very attached to MC. They talk a little bit more, until it just ends abruptly. I didn't expect it to finish so quickly, for the chapter list thing told me that I still had a bit more of the story left. If I had paid for the premium ending, I probably would've gotten a better conclusion. But this just left me thinking "Was that it?" This reminds me of when I first finished Kazama's route in the PSP Hakuoki, I was disappointed at how short it was!
The game did give me a few diamonds for completing it, but they were nowhere near enough to allow me to purchase the epilogue that comes with some exclusive voice clips. I suppose I won't be reading that then.
This mini-route was quite enjoyable, but I don't think that it was worth doing all that grinding for. There was a love challenge every two chapter tickets, which is just way too much! The story was so short, and it didn't live up to the event's title! There was no disciplining in the sheets whatsoever, and the so-called "jealousy" that was in the description was hardly a big deal!
I'm still unsure as to what it means when you "rank" on these things. Do the people who spend the most money get to the top of the list, or is it the people who grinded the most points? I bet I probably ranked like 123456765432198765th or something.
At least I've learnt something from this experience: never bother with mobage event stories. I also have a few more diamonds in my account. Maybe I'll be able to buy some stuff in the gacha. That'll probably disappoint me too. There's nothing like using a gacha token, hoping to get a pretty card with some nice artwork, only to end up with some useless avatar item I'm never gonna use. I wish the IkeVamp gacha had short stories in it like they have in IkeSen, that would make it more worth it for me.
This concludes my review. I was rather excited to play this event, but it just turned out to be a bit underwhelming. I'll probably never get to read it again unless they bring it back one day, so I suppose it's a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience. Just reading that prior sentence makes me laugh for some reason. It sounds like I'm writing about some theme park or show, the way I described the event there. "Once-in-a-lifetime experience", hahahahahaha! It's just an otome game.
Yeah, I should probably end this post now. Don't expect the next post on Napoleon's route to be out for a while. It's going to take me a very long time to be able to raise 13,000 gold to complete this avatar challenge. I wanted to be done with this route in a few days, but I suppose that's not gonna happen.
See you all later...
