Hello. This blog is not dead yet!
It is finally 2021. I had written out a post for late December, but I deleted it at the last minute. I don't know why, I think I thought my writing was cringeworthy or something stupid like that. But I'm back for the new year!
I'm still working through Piofiore. The otome burnout was real, so I put the game aside for a while. I'm not going to get every single ending or read every single after story, but I'll try to finish the game before the spring. Usually I don't have to use a walkthrough anymore, but it's impossible for me to get good endings in this one. With Yang's route I didn't even bother in the end, because no matter what I did I just kept getting a tragic end. I'm going to write about the game on the blog eventually.
Apparently there are going to be more otome localisations coming to the Switch! I am excited, but I don't know if I'll pick any of them up. Perhaps I'll just wait for a sale. Having games in a massive backlog isn't nice for me, it just pressures me to get through them quickly. If I were to get another otome, it would be Nightshade. I want to play it so badly, but getting a physical copy is so expensive.
In the mobage world, I haven't been playing anything until recently. Love 365 gave me four hundred free coins because I hadn't logged in for ages. Perhaps if I leave the game alone for another few months, they'll give me some more... That's enough to buy a whole route, so I'm planning on buying some more Kissed by the Baddest Bidder. I don't know why, but that game fascinates me so much.
I wanted to continue playing some Cybird games, but there aren't any new routes that interest me enough. Last year I started playing Nobunaga's route in IkeSen, but the MC infuriated me so much that I had to stop. With IkeVamp, I'm just waiting for Shakespeare and Dazai's route to come.
I also installed King of Fighters for Girls, because I recently got into that series even though I am awful at fighting games. It's really your standard mobile game with the gacha and side events and all that, but it's alright. There seems to be a lot of voice acting so far, but it might change after I get past the prologue. I don't really know if there are actual routes or if it's just one story where the heroine never ends up with anyone.
Recently I've been trying to play non-visual novel games. To be honest, in my life I haven't really played much. I've mainly just played the same simulation games over and over again. Over the past few months, I've been into Rune Factory 4. The series has caught my attention for a long time, but it took me a long time to actually pick it up. Sometimes I do get bored with it and have to put it down for a while, but I've still been enjoying it. The combat is quite difficult for me and I end up getting stuck on dungeons for ages even on easy mode. My character ended up marrying Dylas, although I want to start another save file to marry the others. Rune Factory 5 is coming soon, but I doubt I'll pick it up until I've played the fourth one to death.
After three years of owning it, my Xbox One is finally getting some proper use. In October I decided to get Yakuza 0 in a sale, and I had so much fun with it. I'd always see copies of that series for the PlayStation and be gutted that I couldn't play it. I was glad that it finally came to Xbox and ended up buying the first three games to binge through. After finishing 0 and Kiwami I decided to take a bit of a break so I don't get burnt out. The games are so good that I think I'll try and play the whole series this year. It seems like this franchise is super popular right now, which I don't mind because usually I discover something years after the hype has gone down.
I also decided to play Shenmue, despite seeing loads of reviews calling it dated and boring. Yes, it is a bit slow and the combat is a bit awkward, but I like it. I heard lots of people say that the forklift game is awful, but it's actually not as bad as you think. Some people don't like the fact that there's a clock and you have to wait around a lot, but there are plenty of other games that make you do that. The old graphics did take me a while to get used to, as well as the controls. There was also this annoying glitch with the music player which forced me to restart my game and lose a bit of playtime. I think I'm almost finished with it now, but it's hard to tell how long is left. Luckily I managed to snag a physical copy of this, it comes with a free poster and reversible cover which is cool. I like free extras like that. It's rubbish that you can't even play the game off the disc, you have to download it first for some reason. I hope it doesn't download it off of the Internet, because that means once the servers go down the disc will be useless.
I'm not really excited for any new game releases. There are so many old games I haven't discovered yet that'll keep me occupied for a while. I wanted to purchase a JRPG for the Switch, like Fire Emblem or Xenoblade, but the price of them puts me off a bit. I wish Nintendo games were cheaper, I know development costs are expensive, but they can at least put them on sale once in a while. Everybody's obsessed with getting the PS5 and new Xboxes right now but I don't care about them. The PS5 has no games that appeal to me, it looks nice though. The new Xboxes are exactly the same as what I already have but with more power. They didn't even make the dashboard different for the new console, and most of the games play on the last generation anyway. Having the latest console doesn't interest me anyway, but I've always been behind the times. I got an Xbox 360 in 2016 and thought the graphics were top notch.
I want to maybe write about different games on this blog, and maybe some more anime and drama CDs. With my main website, I'm not sure what I want to do. Perhaps I'll just let it die. But I won't let this blog fade away. I've worked too hard on it over the years.
Thank you for reading this post. Let's look forward to more posts this year!
