Ikemen Prince: Beauty and Her Beast - Prologue Impressions

I finally got to download Ikemen Prince and play through the prologue. I have a few thoughts on the game that I am going share down below. Please beware of spoilers!

Cybird certainly have improved their games a lot over the years. Ikemen Prince runs a lot snappier and feels a lot more polished than some of their earlier games. In the prologue there are even a few little animations. The artwork I like better than the other Ikemen games. Some of the sprites I don't like the look of, but most of them look quite nice! The art style sort of reminds me a bit of a story book, which is very fitting for the plot of this game.

The story in Ikemen Prince is luckily not another isekai. Our heroine, whose default name is Emma, is just a normal girl who works in a bookshop. I think she's one of the very few Cybird MCs who has a default name, but I could be wrong there. Emma is obsessed with fairy tales and romance stories. Her friend, Rio, seems to be very attracted to her, but Emma is not interested.

One day, Emma gets involved in an incident. She tries to save this kid from angry drunk, and this falls under the attention of a very handsome man called Sariel. His design is so lovely! I want to romance him so badly, but I bet his route isn't out yet...

Sariel decides to select Emma as the royal family's new "Belle". So he kidnaps her and brings her to the palace. The King recently passed, so a "Belle" had to be selected in order to choose which one of his sons becomes the new ruler. It sounds a bit silly to me, but whatever. This is when we meet the love interests, the seven (or eight, I can't remember how many!) handsome princes. Emma has a month to choose which one is worthy of being the new king.

The princes fall under your typical otome game stereotypes. Most of them seem like arseholes, to be honest. Also, is it me, or does Leon look like Nobunaga and Chevalier look like Kenshin? My favourite designs out of the bunch are Chevalier and Yves. I'm probably going to end up picking one of them as my first route, even though they don't have very nice personalities. Each brother comes from a different mother, and most of them don't seem to get along. Where have I seen this before?

Zen, is that you??

Emma signs a massive contract to become Belle, but forgets to read the terms and conditions. But at least she gets to live in the palace for free! I think the trailer said that all of the princes are going to turn into beasts. They're probably going to do the same thing they did with Ikemen Vampire and give each prince a blood sucking (or whatever weird thing beasts do that can be romanticised) scene in their route.

The plot isn't wowing me so far, but I didn't expect it to. I'm excited to pick a route, but I don't know which ones are available yet. Judging by the way the other Ikemen games went, there are probably only three open for now.

Tune in next time for more Ikemen Prince posts! I feel I'll be writing a lot more about this game...
