According to this article, the games we will be getting are Code: Realize, not just the first game but Future Blessings too, Collar X Malice and the fan-disc, Collar X Malice Unlimited, then we've got Piofiore and Cafe Enchante too. All of these games were originally on the Vita, except for Cafe Enchante, which is a Switch exclusive for now.
It's quite a good selection of games, actually. I was wondering why the second Code: Realize fan-disc was getting released but not the third one, but they'll probably announce that one later on, since they've already localised it for the Vita. I'm glad we've got the CxM fan-disc, because I really wanted that one to come out in English.
I suppose I'll go over the other two titles, since they've never been released in the West before. I haven't played either of them yet. Cafe Enchante hasn't actually been released in Japanese yet, so I won't be able to tell you too much about it.
Piofiore was originally released on the Vita in Japan last year. I've known about this one for a while, and I'm actually quite surprised that it's even being localised. If you read this lovely review that tells you a bit about the plot, you'll know what I mean. If you can't be bothered to look through that, I'll tell you the basics: there's a lot of questionable content like sexual assault in there, and most of the love interests aren't very nice. A lot of people might not enjoy this one, but I'm honestly a bit excited because I have really poor taste. When I saw this game before a translation was announced, I really wanted to play it but thought my Japanese wasn't strong enough. If Aksys are willing to bring this over to the West, does that mean they'll be willing to one day bring a Diabolik Lovers game across?
The Visual Novel Database says that it's set in Italy after the First World War, where the MC's some poor girl who gets taken in by the mafia because she's targeted or something. It sounds like there's going to be a lot of heavy plot stuff, but the Italian mafia setting sounds interesting. I think they're also making a fan-disc of it too, so that might have the potential to hit the West too.
Here's a picture of the game. I couldn't really find many that weren't CGs without going through all the effort to search for some in Japanese instead.
I don't really know that much about the love interests, but they have nice designs. The one in the top left reminds me of Enomoto from Collar X Malice, and the white haired bishie in the top right looks like Saint-Germain from Code: Realize, but hotter.
The next game I'm gonna talk about, Cafe Enchante, sounds really good. I also knew about this one before the localisation announcement. It's about a girl who inherits a cafe where a lot of supernatural beings hang out. The love interests are all super cool, there's an angel, a dullahan, a demon boy and some others too. I'm excited for the angel, because I heard that he enjoys playing otome games, so at least I have something in common with one of them.
Why don't I just show you the opening video?
While I'd love to review all of these once they come out, I don't own a Nintendo Switch yet! I never planned to buy one, because I literally just got my Vita last year and an Xbox the year before that. But then all these otome games got announced, and I thought about maybe getting one, but then the Switch Lite or Mini or whatever it's called was also announced, and they had one in my favourite colour, turquoise! It was was at that moment that I decided that I wanted one, maybe not this year, but next year. It's not like it's a very expensive console.
However, I would like to play my Vita to death before buying another handheld. It's not fair on it if I buy another console now. I really wished for it to get more otome localisations, but I'll just have to accept that it's pretty much a dead console outside of indie games, and that the Switch is the new, hip toy to own. I wanted to buy an old 3DS before all of these otome announcements, but I suppose that will never happen now.
There are plenty of Vita games left for me to cover. I've got the final Code: Realize FD, the Hakuoki remakes, a lot of Diabolik Lovers games, London Detective Mysteria, 7'Scarlet, Norn 9, Hatoful Boyfriend, Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk and probably a few others I can't recall right now. I could also play some PC otome, but I don't really do gaming on my laptop other than the Sims.
These games don't come out for another year, so I suppose I have plenty of time to acquire a Switch of my own. Just don't get your hopes up for any reviews as soon as they come out, because I doubt I'll have the console by then.
I'm just happy that more otome games are coming over on consoles instead of just PC and mobile. There's also an original English otome that just came out for the PS4, it's called Akash: Path of the Five. It looks quite good, and it's coming to the Switch too. They were going to make a Vita version but I think they decided not to because it got discontinued. I would absolutely play this game, but I don't have a PS4, just an Xbox One. But who knows, maybe they'll bring it to the Xbox? I don't think the Xbox has any otome games because it's really unpopular in Japan.
I suppose I'd better wrap this post up now. I don't normally write about news, but I have no games to review right now so I have to write something to keep this blog from dying. Hopefully you're all having a great summer. Today I did absolutely nothing except make my Sim have babies with the Grim Reaper and play a bit of Ikemen Vampire.
Anyways, goodbye for now. See you all later!
