A Blog Update (What I've Been Playing/Reading/Watching)

My Getting Fairest Apple White is one of my favourite Ever After High dolls. I know she's not one of the more expensive dolls with billions of accessories and intricate clothing, but I still love her. Her design is very simple, but I still think she's just really pretty. At least she doesn't have a billion rings and earrings to get lost and never find again.

Every Spring I seem to get back into my doll obsession again. So I end up taking out all my dolls and brushing their hair. Then I listen to a lot of Barbie film soundtracks and read a lot of doll blogs. I used to even make movies with my dolls (I stopped because I was scared people would think I was too old for that). Then I forget about everything and repeat it all again next year.

I realised that I haven't been writing much on this blog recently. I haven't been playing otome at all, except for last month when I replayed Ron's route in Norn9 and read his after story twice in one week. I did download the demo for "EPHEMERAL - FANTASY ON DARK-" onto my Switch Lite, but I deleted it after playing it for one second because I was feeling too tired to play it.

I have been playing a lot of other games recently. Because I have nobody in real life who is interested in hearing me talk about them for hours, I'm just going to write about them in this post. I have a feeling that I'm going to be writing a lot this time...

On the Switch, I've just been playing the same games. I've been progressing through Rune Factory 4 a bit. The problem is that the dungeons confuse me, and I get stuck on them for months. It's not that the enemies are too hard to defeat, it's just I end up exploring the whole map but I still don't know how to progress. Right now I am stuck in the Floating Empire, I've basically been everywhere but I don't know how to lift the blockade preventing me from crossing the staircase up to the final boss. Yes, I have searched the Internet for guides, but I can't seem to find anything of use.

My heroine just had a child with Dylas, who I've been training up to assist me in battle. The children in this game are quite adorable, and they actually seem to have a presence in the town. I just wish that the game added a separate bedroom for them in the castle instead of making them share a room with you. I wanted to try out the other love interests too, mainly Kiel and Leon, but it's actually a lot of work to get them to propose.

I want to play Rune Factory 5 when it comes out, but I want to get a lot of playtime out of the fourth game first. I'm super excited for the love interests in this next game, especially the bloke with the wolf ears. It seems like a game that would be best played on the television screen instead of in handheld mode, but I'm not going to be able to do that with my Switch Lite.

The other game I've been playing a lot on the Switch is Animal Crossing. I lost interest in it for a bit, because I wasn't really sure what to do with my island. I wish there were more buildings and shops to add. People spend hours decorating their islands and doing all this fancy terraforming, but I'm not motivated enough to do that. When I was younger I probably would've loved doing it. I don't have enough Bells to buy anything interesting, because I insist on putting everything into paying off the house loan. Most of my original villagers I loved I let go in order to have a bit of change, like Charlise, Flurry and Audie. Audie's supposed to be rare and I could've probably sold her on eBay, but I just let her go.

On the Xbox I've just been playing the same stuff. They did allow non-Gold members to play the online F2P games, so I decided to try out Phantasy Star Online 2. The file size is absolutely massive, bigger than anything else on my console. The first day I played it, this absolute banger of a song came on in the lobby, but it hasn't returned since. (It took me forever to search for on YouTube, it was this song

I attempted to make my character look like an extremely attractive bishounen. I think I failed in that department. He just looks like a gender swap of Rarity. I tried to buy him a better outfit, however it seems like all of the good clothes are locked behind gacha and paid currency.

I don't know if PSO2 is my cup of tea yet. It's fun to mess around in, I suppose. It seems like one of those games that's better if you have friends. Unfortunately, I happen to be terrible at communicating with strangers online, so I doubt I'd ever get in a guild or alliance or whatever they're called. I tried to complete the single player story, but I kept dying during the first quest. Perhaps I should've increased my level a bit more. And maybe I shouldn't have started playing in Japanese. During the tutorial there were a lot of words I didn't understand, so I missed a lot of important things.

The other Xbox game I've been trying to play is Yakuza: Like A Dragon. (I skipped straight to this game after Kiwami 2 because it looked interesting and it had a physical copy available) Usually I can get through a Yakuza game in about two weeks, but I haven't been playing as much cause the weather's been good. So far I've been liking this game a lot, although it takes a while to load on my Xbox One S. It's probably a lot faster if you play it on the Series X. Most of my time on it has been spent playing Virtua Fighter 5. I'm rubbish at it and I don't know any of the moves, but I find it super fun.

My favourite Yakuza game so far has probably been Kiwami 2. I didn't actually play many of the side stories in that one, but the main plot I really liked. Near the end, it started to get really good. I had a lot of thoughts after completing that, I should've let them all out on this blog. If it wasn't for my backlog, I would've played it all over again. Perhaps I should try out the original PS2 game when I have the time.

I also played Shenmue 2 for the first time earlier this year. I still found the fighting system a bit difficult to master, as well as the QTEs. The final boss fight I had to replay a billion times because I kept messing up on the QTE at the end. I also had a lot of trouble earning money. Early in the game I spent a lot of it in the arcade or on the gacha, having no idea that I would need it all later on. This was another game that got really good about halfway through. I would tell you what my favourite bits were, but I don't want to spoil it! It appears that I missed a lot of the side activities, like the duck racing that was mentioned on the back of the case. I'll just have to replay it when I have the time. There's also Shenmue 3 to play, but I can't play that unless they ever port it to the Xbox.

Aside from games, this month I mainly just read a lot of Dragon Ball. I was obsessed and was reading about a hundred chapters a day at one point. Most people have already read it years ago, but again, I'm discovering something new years after it comes out. I was going to just watch the anime, but it seemed like it was a bit too long for me. I'm super lazy with watching television, in fact I can rarely binge watch anything, but with books and manga I will just sit there reading for hours. I even bought a Kindle so I could read more manga without having to stack hundreds of volumes on top of my already full bookcase.

In the Spring I also tend to watch a lot of anime. This year so far, I've just watched Initial D. I started watching last year, and now I've just finished the fourth stage. I started watching because of the eurobeat, and because I heard a seiyuu I liked was in it, and in the end it ended up being one of my favourites. The fourth part is my favourite so far, for many reasons, including the fact that the Takahashi brothers get more screentime. I feel like I should probably read the manga one day, but apparently the official English translation localises all the character names for some reason. I can never understand why they do that.

To be honest, the reason why I end up getting into a lot of anime/manga/games is because of the hot male characters. That's just the way I've always been. I usually end up staying for the plot, although sometimes that's not the case. (I'm 90% sure I kept watching the MCU because I was obsessed with Loki and not because I actually cared about the story...)

I hope to continue writing reviews and things on this blog in the future. I also want to change my blog title banner, cause I now realise that the glitter font is rather hideous. Perhaps the next otome I'll play is Piofiore again, so I can finally finish the finale route. I'm not really interested in any of the new Aksys localisations, I actually just feel like playing a Voltage game next.

Thank you for reading this long ramble about video games. Until my next post, goodbye!
