Kissed by the Baddest Bidder - Soryu Sequel Review

Do people still read this blog? I seem to be getting views, but they could just be bots.

Last night, I was bored. I decided to boot up Love 365 for the first time in months so that they wouldn't delete my account. Before I knew it, I was playing Kissed by the Baddest Bidder again. It's one of those titles that feels a lot better when read in the dark. I decided to play Soryu's sequel this time. I read his epilogue last year and his route the year before that, so my memory of his relationship with the MC wasn't exactly the best, but I got through it fine. I actually powered through it in about an hour. I'm glad I managed to get the Happy Ending on the first try this time. Usually I'm terrible at picking the right choices in this game.

(One of the reasons why I played it was to have something to write about again. I miss writing about otoge.)

So here are my thoughts on the route, given to you in a very random order. The post's probably going to be a lot more brief than usual, cause there's not as much to talk about.

I like that in this route, the MC and Soryu have only just started dating. A lot of after stories skip straight to the marriage or to where they've been in love for a while. I suppose Voltage can sell more stories that way. KBTBB has been milked a lot over the years. There's marriage stories, amnesia stories, pregnancy stories, MC turning into a dog stories, anything you can think of.

I missed the setting of the Tres Spades hotel a lot. Honestly, it's probably one of my favourite otome settings of all time. Who needs extensive fantasy worlds when there's a massive skyscraper hotel with an amazing penthouse? I want to stay at that hotel. I wouldn't want to swap places with the heroine though.

Another thing I missed was the characters. I feel like the supporting cast have good chemistry with each other. The MC's friends are once again great too. Seeing Baba made me want to play his route again! He grew on me so much, so much that he might actually be one of my favourites out of the cast.

Soryu was also nice. His personality softened up a lot compared to how he was at the beginning of the game. There were a lot of cute romance moments with him, like when him and MC leave their friends to go and have a date at the zoo. Then when they go to the zoo, he has a staring contest with the tiger. There's even a shirtless CG of him at the end, only I didn't like the art that much. I don't play Voltage games for good art, so I didn't care that much.

Of course, the plot had a lot of mafia drama in it. Our heroine gets kidnapped a lot. Soryu gets arrested. He breaks up with the MC to "protect her". There was an unexpected twist villain, I thought he was going to die at the end, but Soryu was nice enough to let him live. There was a nice balance of plot and romance. I just wish that the writers knew that there's other ways to create drama than to let the MC get kidnapped.

I liked this story, it was a nice way to pass the time. I would probably rate it about a seven out of ten. Yes, I am probably a bit too soft on this game, but it's fun and I love it as much as some of my expensive fully voiced Otomate games. It would be nice to try the Switch version of KBTBB out one day, but I've already read most of the stories I wanted to read with the free coins Love 365 gave me. Perhaps I'll try another Voltage game instead?

Thank you for reading my post! I hope to start writing a lot more to prevent this blog from dying. I don't feel as burnt out by otome games anymore, so I'll be playing more of them again soon!
