I would like to bring your attention towards the video below:
It came out two months ago, and I somehow missed it!
Apparently Diabolik Lovers is nine years old now. Well, technically it is almost ten, since it came out in 2011 and now we're in 2021. I literally just watched this video five minutes ago, and immediately ran to make a blog post out of it. There's not really much to say, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on it.
The song that plays in the background seems to be some new theme song for something. It's quite different to the usual Diabolik Lovers fare, I actually don't mind it. It's either the theme to a new drama CD series or a new game. The full version hasn't been released yet, but I think it's coming out in March. Luckily for us, it's only a few days until March.
Although I don't like some of the new DiaLovers art, the new costumes featured here are cool. I'm not sure about Yuma's outfit though. I know Laito's fedora is so iconic, but it looks a bit odd with his costume. Reiji looks especially handsome, he probably has my favourite outfit out of the lot. Of course, Subaru also looks great. The new costumes aren't that much of a surprise really, they always change them to sell more merchandise.
The video announces a new drama CD series, "Diabolik Lovers Daylight", and "Diabolik Lovers Young Blood", which I think might be a new game? (My brain cannot read the kanji) They sound interesting, but they're going to be so expensive to import that I probably won't get them at all. I'll just play the new song on repeat for days instead.
The new game (if there even is one) is probably going to the Switch like Chaos Lineage. Even if I could import it, I probably wouldn't anyway. MORE, BLOOD was such a chore for me (that may have been due to visual novel burnout, however), so I am a bit sceptical to play another DiaLovers game that isn't a simple fandisc. I am sort of interested in what the plot would be, though. Maybe they'll bring out some new characters? The main cast has been mostly the same since the beginning, so it would be interesting if they could add some new faces. I don't know if the newer games are like this, but it would be nice if there was a DiaLovers game which had a massive plot and didn't focus on those "scenario" chapters that are all just the same bloodsucking stuff. They could do some cool things with the vampire setting. Maybe they did do some cool things in the Vita games that I haven't played yet.
Someone in the comments section mentioned that they wanted another season of the anime. That would actually be nice too. (I enjoyed the MORE, BLOOD anime so much that I watched it twice within one month) Perhaps they'll adapt Dark Fate? The anime is good for international fans because it's really the only way we can access the series without having to import or pirate. (I do not think the games will ever be localised in English, because I bet a lot of random people on the Internet would complain about how awful it is, the anime already gets a lot of hate...)
So yes, I know I was two months late to the party, but those are my thoughts on this new DiaLovers announcement thing. I know the series is being milked a bit now, but I still love it a lot. And I like having a reason to write on my blog. See you later!
