Misty's Blog: The Second Anniversary!

(WARNING: What started as a simple anniversary post turned into a full on discussion on the history of this blog.)

It was on this very day, exactly two years ago that I decided to create this blog. I didn't intend it to be some professional, money making site that would attract millions of viewers. All I wanted was to create a space where I could dump my thoughts. Also, I secretly just wanted to create another website, because making websites is fun. I didn't even intend to make it otome-based, it was just a blog. A very personal blog.

Before this, I had owned about five blogs in the past. One I actually tried to make professional and cool, but I eventually gave up. It's really difficult to become popular using a blog in the age of Instagram and Snapchat. The other four blogs were just random thought dumps and just general space wasters.

Misty's World 3.0 is Finally Here!

If you were following my site last year, you may remember that around the time that it turned a year old, I completely and utterly revamped it to use a bit more CSS. At the time I thought that it used loads of CSS, but really it didn't use that much of it.

Misty's World is almost two years old now, so after being inspired by other people's sites with more fancy Cascading Style Sheets, I decided to revamp the site all over again. It's here, if you want to see the new design. I know, it doesn't look perfect, but I'm really bad with CSS so it's all I could do. Actually, I'm just realising that it looks a lot closer to how this blog looks now.

I literally deleted every old file from my site (Don't worry, I backed it up beforehand!), but my laptop's wireless signal thing was messing up again, and the Internet went off halfway through. It's really annoying because Neocities has a weird file management system, meaning that you have to delete each file one by one, not all at once. It is quite annoying.

Eventually, I managed to delete everything and upload all of the new stuff. There were a few errors, but they should all be fixed by now, except for one major, major error. I dunno if this is just my computer (I just partitioned my PC's hard drive and installed Windows 7 because it's way faster, I'm using that now and my trackpad driver isn't installed properly because it crashes a lot so that may be the issue) but on Chrome the left navigation bar doesn't work. The hyperlinks just won't click. It's weird because when I tried it with an old version of Internet Explorer, it worked fine. Hopefully other Chrome users won't have the same problem as I. It's annoying, why did it have to happen with such a popular browser?

I know this blog hasn't had a proper post in a while. I don't think I'm going to make a post on the Japan exclusive Hakuoki fan-disc I'm playing, because it's super hard to understand. I do get the basic plot of it, but it's harder for me to write about games in another language. I've been taking it super slow, even though it's quite a short game, it's been taking me ages for some reason. I dunno what I'm gonna be playing after that, so there may be a post drought for quite a while.

I'm going to start blogging about my doll collection soon, so there's that to look forward to. I know this is an otome blog, but originally it was a blog of all trades, with posts about anything, so it doesn't matter if I write about something different.

I should stop writing now, because that's all I have to say. See you all later!

A Reflection on This Blog

This is not a proper post or anything. I feel like reading some of my older posts even though whenever I read them I have to correct a lot of accidental errors (I don't edit because it's embarrassing reading my stuff), but it's really fun to see what my opinions were on certain games and that at the beginning and how they changed.

It's funny, I started this blog just to randomly ramble on about stuff, but then I started playing Hakuoki and Mystic Messenger and writing about it. At first, if you look at my original posts on Hakuoki, I'd just lightly touch on the plot but not really talk about things at all (I think I was scared of getting details wrong) and I'm pretty sure I spelt Shinsengumi wrong each time! Then I got my Vita and started playing Code: Realize and I still didn't really talk much about the plot, but then when I started Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly (still probably my favourite game) I went a bit deeper in, and then eventually a few games later, I was almost into proper review territory. Now I try to make at least one post fully discussing a route, one on my initial opinions on a game and then sometimes I final opinion post. It's nice looking at how my writing and my plot analysis skills have gotten better over these past few months.

I think I might write proper posts on Hakuoki if I get the new remastered Vita games. I am playing the fan-disc next but it's all in Japanese so I dunno how much I'll be able to say about it since I'm having trouble finding a complete English summary (nobody translated the fan-disc because it got incorporated into localised versions of the original game anyway).

I keep thinking that the current theme of this blog might look like an absolute eyesore to outside viewers with the white text, bright colours and moving background, but I like it so I just keep it anyway. Just so you all know, I understand if this blog is unreadable because of the theme. I'm still not gonna change it yet though, sorry. (I now realise that this has become more of a blog for myself rather than anybody else, sometimes I've even considered making it private)

Even though nobody reads this blog, I've got to say that I've had a blast writing about my otome journey these past few months. It's probably helped my writing skills quite a bit, and it's just nice to have something like a diary to pour my thoughts into. It's funny, when I started this blog in 2017, I used this tag on my posts that said "this blog is probably gonna die anyway" and look where we are now, in 2019! I don't think this blog is dying anytime soon, unless Blogger gets killed by Google (which I am scared of because they just culled Google +), but then I'll just move to Wordpress so everything will be fine again.

If you're reading this, thank you. :) Even if you dislike my blog and want it deleted forever, it's nice to know that someone, somewhere, read this post.

Goodnight and goodbye!

EDIT: I'm just reading this post and it's hilarious. It's like looking at a younger version of myself even though the post was only made last year. Just the title of the post alone is funny really.

Every Plot Point is Clicking Together.......

(Spoilers down below!)

Today I finished two routes. Well, I started the other one yesterday so I was already almost done when I started playing, but oh well....

Shirabe's route was good and all that, it's not very fresh in my mind now so it's harder to talk about. But the route I finished in only a day (actually only a bit over an hour of play time) was Makoto's. Apparently it's best to play that one last, but it doesn't really matter for me.

His route was actually a lot sadder than I thought it would be, but I was still quite happy because a few of my theories turned out to be correct! I predicted that Makoto might've been either the player Saki replaced or Count Hogstein, and both of them turned out to be true! And those random dreams that occured near the end of each chapter, they weren't Saki's like I had thought, they were actually his! I think I misinterpreted them a bit because sometimes I had to play without the sound.

Makoto's actually really sweet but also just quite messed up. Saki had to somehow fix him with the power of love. I thought a couple of times that the route was going to end with suicide like a certain other game that I was gonna mention, but shouldn't in case the reader hasn't played it, but luckily he survived to give Saki two kisses. The ending wasn't exactly the happiest because he still had to go to prison, but they made it seem not that bad because of their love or something. This route must be a bit shorter than the others, which I expected after playing the original Hakuoki's "secret" route which was literally just an alternate ending. (I'm still disappointed with that, by the way.)

I think that a lot of the character backstories from the other routes were spoiled here, so I can understand why this was locked. When I restarted the common route for the third time, there was also a character who wasn't there before, but he didn't pop up again. Earlier I said that I was missing things from Wakasa's route, and I think I've found one of them. When you play the common route before unlocking Makoto, there's a part in the story where you explore the park for the first time and you get to choose what character you do it with.  But once you unlock the extra route, you can't get it again unless you choose this one choice at the beginning that shoos Makoto away. When I did the common route to get Wakasa, I was unaware of this and ended up missing a CG of him. But today I managed to get it so everything's fine, I suppose.

But now I have to skip through the common route again to pursue Mitarashi. I've never found an otome that's easier to get the route you want, and all of the good endings, than this game. I have been using walkthroughs occasionally just to check my answers, like when I wanted Makoto's route I wanted to look up to see how to get his route without getting loads of affection points for the others. A lot of times I've gotten bad endings because I failed the mini game, or just made one wrong choice, but it wasn't like the other games where it's because I made hundreds of mistakes in the past and it's impossible to go back and see where I messed up.

To be honest, I was a bit skeptical of Sweet Fuse in the past because none of the love interests really appealed to me. I know people should be judged by personalities but I'm pretty shallow and just go by looks. Even after I had bought it I was a bit skeptical still, but I'm glad I played it now. It's like that with a lot of things I'm not sure about, I experience them and then end up loving them. This otome is as good as all of the other wildly popular titles, so it should be talked about more! Well, I suppose me covering it on this blog might give it a tiny bit more publicity... It would be cool if it had a fan-disc or something but I'm not really sure where they could take the characters once this is over... Maybe they could just do after-stories or something?

I wonder how people feel about the kinds of posts I write on my blog. People usually write reviews for video games, not personal diaries on them! I could do reviews but by the time I've finished a game a lot of the minor details will have slipped my mind, and I'm not going to write notes whilst I play because that'll ruin it. I suppose these posts could count as notes, but they don't really dive that deep into the plot so they're not. Writing these posts makes my blog slightly different, but I honestly think that this place is turning more into my own diary than an actual public website.

Anyway, that's enough of my ramblings. I still haven't learned how to conclude posts in all my years of blogging, so I'm just gonna say goodbye. Goodbye!

BEWARE OF THE BLINKIES

I apologise for the very stupid sounding post title.

I'm just writing to tell everybody that I might start furnishing this blog with blinkies and Deviantart stamps to make this site look less... generic. Be warned. Blinkies and stuff are kind of tacky looking at times but I'll try to make them seem pretty!

Do not worry though, I won't be using any of the weird ones that say stuff about love and religion and edgy rock bands. Most of them are like that, so hopefully there will be a nice enough one that isn't tacky and stupid that I can put here.

I just found a bunch of otome ones so I really really want them on here. They might be going on my Neocities site too.

:)

UPDATE: I found one decent, but kinda tacky blinkie that I added to the sidebar. It says "Diet Coke Girl", and I suppose that'll look alright on my blog. Diet Coke is like a drug for me, so it would make sense if I add it to my blog. All of the others are designed for middle-aged women though, they say stuff like "HAPPINESS IS: Being an Auntie" and "I love my hubby :)" so I'm definitely not gonna add any of those because I don't have a husband, or a niece or nephew yet. I'm still looking at stamps to add.

Also, earlier I added a custom cursor, and I'm thinking of changing the site's background to something 20% cooler. Stay tuned for more updates!

...

This blog should just be called "Misty's Otome Blog" now, because all I write about are those games!

So, I finished Impey's route. I knew I should've changed the MC's name to something other than my real name during this route, because everytime he said "I love you, (insert my real name here).", it made me gag and feel kind of awkward. It's weird because I've never felt that before when "dating" my least favourite love interest.

I'm sure Impey is the perfect boyfriend for someone out there, but he's just not my type. I don't find him attractive at all. At least the story and the art was nice. In the after story there was another one of those shirtless fan-service CGs to add to the collection.

I'm getting a lot of PlayStation trophies from this game. With my Xbox I'm really bad at everything so I never get any achievements, but with these visual novels they're so easy so the achievements keep coming through. Now I can use this time to advertise my PSN account because I have no friends. Please add me, my name is strangepigeon333! (My Xbox Live ID is itsdehhhhhh).

This morning I skipped through the common route like a VHS tape, and now I'm on Victor's route. Luckily he's a person I am actually attracted to. It's starting to look like he's got a depressing back story, like everybody else in this game. I've noticed that near the end of every route, there's always a really long part where the chosen love interest explains their back story to the player. I'm not complaining, it's just something I've noticed.

Hopefully this route will turn out to be as good as all the others!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, I'm going to change the subject.

I have quite a lot of posts on this blog now. At first I was writing them for people to read them, but now it feels like I'm not doing it for online fame, just for myself to look back at this at a later date and either cringe or feel nostalgic. That's probably a good thing, because they say that it's bad to be desperate for fame. This place is kind of like a diary.

... And that's all I have to write for today. Typing this has made me realise that I've forgotten to watch the new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home that came out yesterday! Oh well.

Hmmmmmm.....

For some reason, last week my blog got 87 views from Turkey. How strange... I'm not sure if it would've been a bot or not. Maybe somebody in Turkey with lots of friends shared my blog around? Most of these views were from a Linux computer, if that means anything.

I also got 16 views from Ukraine, too.

Blog Stats

I was looking at the stats for my blog and they weren't that special, until I found something that interested me. Somebody from Russia found my blog from a Yandex search. It might have been a bot or something, but I still find it pretty cool.

Hello, random person from Russia, if you're reading this.

Hi.

I haven't written on here in a long time, have I?

My old Windows XP netbook from 2010 is running at a snail's pace, so I think I'm going to install Windows 7 on it to see how well it does. Hopefully 1GB of RAM is enough. I was just doing operating system research when I decided to come onto Blogger to see how things are doing.

See you later.

:)

Site updates have been slow lately. Sometimes I want to do other things than HTML coding. I'm also just too lazy to come up with new page ideas. These are very lame excuses, I know.

There's only a bit more than a week left until I see Infinity War in my local cinema on April 26th. The film does come out on April 27th, but I'm seeing a special pre-showing where you get popcorn discounts and some free collectible coin. It's in 3D, so hopefully they'll actually add some crazy effects, but they probably won't. I would see it in IMAX if I could see it again, because it is the first Hollywood film to be shot entirely in IMAX cameras.

That's all I have to say for now. I know this is an abrupt conclusion, but I have to go and do something. Bye.

Fake Facebook Accounts

I'm not hungry for Internet fame or anything, but I can't help noticing that this blog has a very small view count. It's weird, because my main website gets a considerable amount of views each time, and there is a button on it that links to this place. I guess not many people clicked on it.

On Blogger you kind of feel isolated from the other users. There is a way to find other blogs, but it's not very easy to access. On Neocities, however, there are a bunch of social features that allow more people to become aware of your webpage. If Blogger had more "social features", maybe it would be easier for one to get more blog hits.

I know Blogger has Google Plus integration, but who even cares about that site? Sometimes I like to go on there to see what things people are posting. To be honest, I prefer Facebook, even though they steal your data.

Actually, I have a confession to make about Facebook. I like making fake accounts (Not with real people pictures, of course, just random anime pictures and stuff!) and making them all chat with each other and post random things about where they went. They don't really post any images that often. The other day I made one of them go on holiday. Most of the time I forget about them, so I just make up that they never use FB that often.

Nobody else really sees these accounts except me, but then suddenly lots of people from places like Thailand and India want to be friends with "Carla Smith", one of my four accounts. Then a lot of fake accounts with bikini-clad women want to befriend her too. I just accepted all of those friend requests, but they never like any of her posts. It's probably because they have about 400 other friends, so their feeds are probably cluttered with their posts.

I know it's a big waste of time to mess around on Facebook like this, but I find it fun sometimes. It just shows how easy it is to lie on the Internet. I actually made a Blogger blog for one of my fake accounts, but I forgot about it a couple of days later. It now lies abandoned.

If anybody who works for Facebook is reading this, they're probably going to search for Carla Smith, and try and take down her account. One of my accounts got taken down before, even though I made it seem pretty believable. For some reason FB don't like it if you use a fake name on there. I don't even use my full name or my real Email address, because I was told that employers like to search you up. I really don't want future bosses looking at all of my awful photos and weird video game related posts.

Wow, this post is very long. I don't know how to conclude it now. I'm very bad at conclusions.

Hopefully you enjoyed reading this, and that you have a nice day.

(If you see me place a comma before the word "and", thinking it is incorrect grammar, it actually isn't. It's called the Oxford Comma. Look it up if you're interested.)
