I have been continuing my journey through the very strange but also quite good game Diabolik Lovers: Haunted Dark Bridal. A minute ago I just finished reading the first main chunk of Ayato's route. It's been quite... interesting so far, but I've been enjoying it.
BEWARE OF SPOILERS DOWN BELOW, although not much has happened yet, so you should be alright if you've never played it before.
Really not much has happened in the plot so far. Really it's just been like another one of the Drama CDs, except you can make choices this time! I've been using a walkthrough and I've decided to make only the masochistic choices instead of the others, because I think that's gonna give me the best ending. I don't really know how you get a bad ending yet, but I don't think it's like other otomes where you can make one wrong choice that kills you.
At the end of each short episode, there's been this wall of text that the summary or walkthrough doesn't mention, where a few of the words are highlighted in blue. You're supposed to select the words, and when you do it you'll either see a blood splatter on the screen or just hear a weird chime. I dunno what it does really so I've just been clicking random stuff hoping that I'm doing the right thing.
Each episode so far has been kind of the same, but I'm still enjoying it. I'm really relying on the online summaries to understand it though, although I am getting the general idea of what's going on, so that's good. I'm just pretending that my self-insert MC can't understand Japanese that well. It's just been Yui sitting around in some room, then Ayato sneaks up on her, acts like a dickhead then sucks her blood. Yui always tells him to stop, but it never works. She's starting to get used to it now. In Ayato's Dark Epilogue she actually just gives him her blood. I actually understood that bit too so I felt quite happy.
A lot of the time Ayato suggests to have sex with her, but nothing happens because they're usually in a public room. I don't really know what the word for sex is in Japanese so I never realise he's suggesting it until I read the summary. I've been using this summary, in case you were wondering. Yui also gets her first kiss from Ayato, but she's a bit sad because it wasn't romantic or nothing, he was just sucking her blood. Poor girl. I kind of feel sorry for her a bit. But I kind of like the romantic scenes because Ayato's voice sounds so hot through my earphones...
In the Dark Epilogue you get to see a bit of Ayato's childhood because he has a nightmare about it. You see his mum, Cordelia be an abusive cow. I've heard about her before online, all I know is that she's horrible and that Yui has her heart or something. For some reason she's really mean to Ayato but not Kanato or Laito. I dunno why really, but I suppose I'll find out later. It looks like the reason why everybody's an abusive cunt in this game is because they had shitty childhoods. I'm interested to find out more about everybody's depressing backstories later on.
So far I've literally seen none of the other brothers, except Reiji once when he barges in on Ayato trying to have sex with Yui. It's like the drama CDs I have, where you just spend time with one character. I think some of the later games have more of a plot or something, I dunno. The DiaLovers game that literally just game out, Chaos Lineage looks like it has loads going on. I really wanna play it but it's a Switch exclusive and I don't have one of those... :(
Normally when I play an otome game I want romance instead of loads of plot, but here I keep mentioning that not much is going on except blood sucking. I suppose I'm just used to plot heavy otome games now.
After I've done Ayato's route, I'm probably going to move on to someone nicer... Maybe Shu or Subaru? I'm just surprised at how quickly I'm progressing through it for a game in another language. I'm learning new words often, but then I forget their meanings so quickly.... I think I'd definitely pick up another one of these games, maybe for the Vita if I can get one cheap enough. I got Haunted Dark Bridal used off Amazon for really cheap, free postage too. It came super quickly and it was in great condition. I expected it to be in alright condition for something used, but it looked almost brand new. One of my drama CDs that was supposed to be used came still in the wrapping and everything! It seems like Japanese people must keep their stuff in much better condition.
I'm super tired now so I'm gonna stop typing because I've said what I wanted to say. It's pretty much Sunday already. I don't like Sundays that much because the threat of Monday coming the next day. Anyways, I'll see you all later. Bye!
