Earlier, I had another mini photo shoot out in the garden with some of my Barbies. There's not really any other interesting places in my house where I can photograph them. Well, I suppose I could go out in public, but people would probably look at me a bit funny.
All of these photos were taken with my iPhone SE. Yes, I know it doesn't have four powerful camera lenses like the latest iPhone, but the images still look fairly decent. I also made them look slightly better with Photoshop too.
Oh... I just noticed a dark blue blob in the corner of her dress. That must be an error I made editing it! Sorry about that...
I dressed her up like this, because I wanted to make her look like she was from a Barbie movie or something. The vibe I was going for was a modern princess/popstar. I've never actually seen Barbie as the Princess and the Popstar all the way through, but I like the dolls.
Katy has such nice hair, doesn't she? The tinsel in it has started to become a bit unruly, so I might have to boil wash it soon. It only looks straight in this picture because I Photoshopped it!
This is my Sweetheart Stripes Fashionista girl, Griselda. She's wearing her own skirt and shoes, as well as Dreamhouse Adventures Daisy's top. I didn't really edit this photo that much, because it already looked rather decent.
This is a My Scene doll I got sealed in the box a few years ago. Her official name is Madison, but in the UK they changed it to Westley for some reason. Most of my dolls of her come with her American name anyway, as well as the My Scene Goes Hollywood DVD I had years ago. I don't know why companies change names for the European/UK market. I know there's copyright reasons behind it most of the time, but why would you change a name as simple as Madison? It's not like it's an uncommon name over here or anything. In fact, I would say that Westley's a far less common name over here instead.
Anyway, I really love this doll. Her hair is absolutely stunning. This Madison is from the initial release of My Scene back in 2002. Her face up and packaging is slightly different to what the later dolls had. I don't like My Scene faces as much as I did a few years ago, but this one I still find really beautiful. I wish Mattel dolls still had the quality that these ones had...
I bought my Jane Boolittle doll in Sainsbury's for £8.99 back in 2014, and I had never taken her clothes off, only her hairbands and shoes. But today I took her outfit apart for the first time! I had no idea that the pink dress was a separate piece! I'm just going to keep her dressed like this for a while. It looks like she's all ready for a party now.
Jane has really grown on me over time. She might actually be one of my favourite Monster High dolls. She was an impulse buy, her price was so cheap that I could not resist. Sainsbury's have had really good deals on dolls in the past. My Frights! Camera! Action! Draculaura I got there for a low £6.99.
Here's my My Scene Roller Girls Nolee wearing the extra outfit that came with my American Idol Barbie. She's a really awesome doll, but her face I don't love as much anymore. At least it's better than the My Scene head sculpts where they have those awfully wide smiles! I also have a Chelsea from this line, but her hair is currently an absolute mess!
I hope to get some new dolls soon. Some of the dolls on my wishlist include the Wild Hearts Crew girls, even though they're US exclusives or something. They seem like a lovechild between Monster High and My Scene. I'm also interested in that new Mattel line (I can't remember the name, sorry!) where you can change the gender of the doll, because the clothes seem like they'd look good on my Monster and Ever After High girls.
Oh yeah, there's also the Yule Ball Cho Chang I'd like to get, just because I love the outfit. I hope Mattel keep going with the Harry Potter dolls. If they made an older Draco Malfoy and maybe a Bellatrix Lestrange, I would be super happy.
Another line that has piqued my interest is the BTS dolls. I'm really much of a K-Pop fan, I'm more interested in how the industry works than the actual music. The only band I really listen to are Big Bang, but I did check out a few BTS songs just because of the dolls. On Last.fm it says that they're on of my most listened to artists, but that's just because the account is new. Their music is alright, with a couple of songs here and there that I really like. I'm just happy that we have some interesting male dolls for once, ones that are fully articulated!
If I got a BTS doll, I'd probably make it date one of my Barbies. When I was younger I only had one Ken doll, so I used to pretend that he was the only man in the world, and all of my female dolls fought for his love.
Hopefully Mattel release more in the BTS line. They've worn so many different outfits and had so many different hairstyles, so they'd probably never run out of design ideas. Maybe they'll even release playsets too?
To finish off this post, here's a picture of my Made to Move doll. She's the only one I have so far, but hopefully, I'll get some more one day.
This is the end of today's post! I hope you enjoyed my photos, even though they weren't taken with a professional camera or anything. See you all in the next post!
