A Journey Through Period Cube's Bad Endings: Part One

Yes, I know I literally wrote my last post an hour ago, but there was something really cool I wanted to write about!

This is technically a companion piece to my other three Period Cube posts, so if you haven't read them or played the game yet, I would highly recommend that you do!

I decided to go through the "Merry Bad Endings" for the two routes that I've already completed, because they come with CGs and trophies! They were both a lot longer than I thought, and a lot more complex than the simple "you made one wrong choice so now you're dead" endings. I wrote "Part 1" in the title for this post, because I'm planning to go through all the other endings like these later on. I used this walkthrough for these, in case you were wondering. Each one requires low affection to land on and they branch off from the normal story at Quest 7.

So, what did I think about them? Scroll down below to find out, and beware of spoilers!!

Radius' Ending

When I first loaded this one up, it didn't really seem that bad to me, but later on I realised how crazy it really was...

During the final battle scene in Arcadia, Kazuha gets fatally hit by Demento. This drives Radius crazy so he kills the bastard whilst our heroine watches in horror, saying how they're now equals because they've both killed. For some reason Kazuha collapses on top of the dead body so Radius helps her up. Unfortunately, her HP is very low and she could die at any second.

Zain/Shiki tries to work the Period Cube anyways to save her, but some stuff happens and everybody disappears except his sister. Radius somehow gets sucked into the Cube and manages to get view all of Shiki's memories. He comes back and tells Shiki how much of a loser he is, and then stuff happens and Natsu pops up to tell his friend that what he's doing is stupid.

Shiki gets defeated whilst Kazuha sits there in pain. Radius reprogrammes the cube, because he wants to use it to create his own world. His possessiveness over Kazuha goes absolutely overboard here, probably because she very much almost died.

Then we go forwards in time, and this part of the story is told from Rei's point of view. I was thinking at this point: "How is this much of a bad ending?" Rei comes home from something and Kazuha greets him whilst she's cooking stew. There's a little lovey dovey scene and we get probably my favourite CG in the entire game! Why does it have to be from a bad ending though??

The Rei goes on about how Kazuha's his world and all that lovey-dovey nonsense, until she points out that his clothes have red bloodstains on them. She seems... surprisingly calm about that... Rei promises to change them or something (for some reason the details are already slipping my mind even though I just played it!!) until someone knocks on the door and screams for Rei to come out, calling him a demon and a few other things. Rei decides to go out and "clean up" and his inner monologue goes on about how he's selecting people to go into his world (These details may not be accurate because I don't remember exactly), and I think he reprogrammed World V and basically did what Shiki was going to do anyways.

Basically Rei became a killer for Kazuha to make her world perfect, and I think he might even keep her locked up in his apartment like a yandere too...

I really liked this ending!! It kind of reminds me of something from another otome game, but it's kind of spoilery for Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, so I'll hide it as black highlighted text you can drag your mouse over if you want to read. It kind of reminds me of Karasuba's bad ending where he keeps you locked up and I think he kills everybody else so that you can just hang out with him.

I actually think that this is a better, more interesting end than the supposed good one. It's way more romantic, I know that. And the CG is super cute, too! It's a 10/10 from me. Otomate, why didn't you make this Rei's true ending??

Astrum's Ending

Oh wow, I thought Radius' end was crazy, but this one is way more dramatic!

What happens here is that in the final battle against Zain/Shiki, Toru goes mad with anger and jealousy back up in the real world, so he hits Shiki's body until he kills him in the game. This bit is actually kind of scary because Toru's voice goes all deep and terrifying.

Kazuha doesn't really react that much to her brother's death, to be quite honest. She can hear Astrum going absolutely bonkers over the voice chat, first with happiness because he killed Shiki but then his voice changes again and it sounds a bit like he regrets it.

Kazuha really doesn't want her dear Toru to be a murderer, so she reprogrammes the Period Cube to bring him back to World V as Astrum so that he can live here forever as a hero, because that's what he'd want.

Natsu pops up and asks Kazuha (or Misty as she's called in this screenshot of my self-insert version of the game) what the hell she's doing and if she's going to actually bring Shiki's plan to life. Apparently to get the Period Cube plan working, only seven more people need to die. There just happens to be seven people standing right behind them, just waiting to be sacrificed.

All the demon people and Radius and Sirent and all that just die, turning into polygon pieces. Sirent's last words are something alone the lines of "I hope you're not doing this for him.". Natsu's obviously super upset. Kazuha's invites Astrum into their own little world of happiness.

There's a time skip, and Astrum's outside the angel palace base (can't remember what it's called) with various angel and demon players. They've just come back from doing another quest to destroy some evil king.

It turns out that this evil king's actually Natsu, who made sure that his consciousness would never disappear from the game. Natsu took away Kazuha's speech for some reason, and Astrum really wants to get it back. I think they're living in World V permanently now, as immortal beings who'll never return to the real world. I wonder if their bodies on the outside are gradually aging, whilst on they inside they stay young forever?

Anyways, Astrum returns to the palace to greet his lovely Amadeus, who is currently in the care of Femina. She's in a really pretty dress and there's a nice CG of it, as you can see below.

(The screenshot was of a different piece of text but I think when I pressed the screenshot button it went onto the next piece of dialogue of Kazuha saying "..." when I didn't want that, sorry.)

Then Natsu comes up and Astrum's like "Oh no, the evil king!" and Natsu notes on how that's just a load of old role-playing bullshit that he's told everybody and they all believe him. Astrum gets his sword out and tries to kill Natsu but I'm pretty sure he escapes.

Then Astrum goes back to fawning over Kazuha, saying how he'll get his voice back, and I think he said something like "私のすべては君のものだ." which I can understand without subtitles because they say stuff like that all the time in Diabolik Lovers. This means "Everything of mine is yours", but there's a 10% chance he might've said "Everything of your's is mine" instead. While he says all this creepy (but attractive) stuff, this weird glitchy sound plays. Maybe the world's slowly breaking or something. Unfortunately, we'll never know, because it ends right there. I wish they made fan-discs with after stories of bad endings!!

This ending I preferred to Radius', even though his was quite good too. The voice acting in this one gets super intense, especially during the Shiki's murder scene. Even Kazuha goes a bit crazy here, because she decides to ruin everything and kill people just to preserve her lover's happiness, even though he literally just murdered her brother. This ending's a bit yandere like Radius' too. I'm expecting the other bad endings to be like that also. Does that mean every love interest in this game will have a secret yandere personality waiting to be awakened? That would be great if it was like that... Oh dear, I'm not even trying to hide my love for the messed up characters anymore.

It would be cool if this was the true ending instead, but it's a little bit too depressing to be one. At least with Radius' one it feel slightly more happy?

I'm super glad I dove into these endings, because each one gave me a completion trophy, then another one for finding all of the CGs of each character. I think this game might actually be quite easy to get platinum for. It'll be my first fully completed set of game achievements then! And I'm also glad I made this post for it. I hadn't really planned to do this at all, I was thinking about going for the bad endings but I didn't expect to write about them...

This is truly all I'm going to write for today. Two posts is definitely enough. It's not like I have anything more to write about anyways....

See you all later!
