......................................................................................................................................
Oh dear. Except for the final two bad endings, I've basically finished this game. It'll be sad to say goodbye to it. Even though it's not the best otome game out there, I got quite immersed and attached to Period Cube. It was a fun ride, not just to play it but to review it.
That sounds more like a concluding paragraph than an opening one, doesn't it?
It's true, I managed to unlock
This review might be less plot summary and more just my thoughts because again, my memory sucks. I had like three hours of sleep last night, so my writing may not be at its best. Yes, I know that I shouldn't be typing this if I'm tired, but I just felt like getting it out of the way before I forget even more plot than before. I'll probably only be going over the most important or memorable bits of the story.
The common route branch for this route is the same as Hiroya and Libera's. You unlock one extra choice after completing everybody else's path, and this choice automatically puts you onto Shiki's route.
When Kazuha's hiding out in the cave, Hiroya and Libera go off to look for something, leaving her to amuse herself for a while. Later on, you find out that them being driven away was actually all Shiki's doing, which I had predicted quite early on. So Kazuha's just sitting there doing nothing, until she hears a sound or something, I can't remember.
Of course, she goes off to look for the sound, and eventually she bumps into Poyo-Poyo. He helps her get out of the cave and battle the mobs in there, because for some reason she can't find her way back to where Hiroya and Libera wanted her to stay.
Poyo-Poyo's actually some soft toy that Shiki gave Kazuha as a baby, then Shiki just got the idea to play him in the game. I dunno how Kazuha doesn't recognise the character, but I think it's said later on that she has memory issues after her car accident.
Kazuha and Poyo-Poyo go off to Twilight Capital and meet Forte and Domina and all those people. (You can tell my memory's really bad!) They get a free room in the inn, and Poyo-Poyo wants to sleep with Kazuha, which she doesn't mind because he's just a cute mascot, it's not like he's actually a boy or anything. I think she thinks he's an NPC, not a player who chose to be look like that.
Whilst Kazuha sleeps, Poyo-Poyo transforms back into Shiki and turns into a creeper. I think he literally touches his sister in her sleep.................................................................................... But what he says is kind of hot though, so I didn't really mind....
I'm just going to say that sometimes the romance really grossed me out because Shiki and Kazuha are siblings. I know, they're not blood related, but it's still really weird! To properly enjoy it, I had to pretend that they weren't brother and sister, they were actually just really, really good friends, just to make it not weird.
A lot more stuff happens, but it mainly involves Forte so I don't care about it that much. This creepy stuff with Shiki occurs about two or three nights in a row, and Kazuha doesn't really notice because she's a deep sleeper.
One night Shiki just monologues over her sleeping body about how it's not fair that he's related to her, because it means that he can't touch her or anything. I dunno why he just doesn't show himself to his sister and drag her straight to the Ark to do his evil business. Maybe the Cube's not ready yet? I can't remember, but it just seems like a pain to let things drag out when you literally have her in your hands right there ready to be sucked into the Period Cube.
Some more stuff happens, until one night, Kazuha wakes up and she can't find Poyo-Poyo anywhere! Whilst looking around for him, she witnesses this person being murdered for going near someone or something. The murderer is obviously Shiki, but for some reason Kazuha's too dumb to recognise him. Surely you'd be able to realise it's your brother speaking? She's spent almost her entire life with him so she should be able to identify it.
Kazuha's too scared to speak up about the killing. I'm pretty sure she runs back to bed and Shiki says something to her, but she still doesn't realise it's her brother! I know they didn't see each other much anymore, but she should still be able to recognise it, no matter how different it is to his usual tone!
Then the Jaws of Death attack and Kazuha gets separated from the Forte gang, until she runs into Poyo-Poyo. Somehow he then reveals himself as Shiki and then Jocus and Ira run into them. Ira sees Shiki and she's like "Why are you so happy when the Jaws of Death almost killed everyone?" then she sees his strong power and she's like "Why didn't you use them to help people?" to which Shiki replies with something along the lines of "I only care about my sister, not anyone else!" so then the two of them have an argument and Jocus tells Kazuha to run away or something, I can't remember. Also, I'm quite sure there's a kiss scene too. Shiki's quite aware that it's gross to love his own sister, but he doesn't really care that much anymore. All he cares about is Kazuha's happiness.
Long story short, Shiki puts some kind of spell that stops the two from moving and just drags his sister into the Ark, trapping her in the same room that Hiroya chucked her in on Radius' route. Then we get a few flashbacks and then Shiki comes up and says some stuff and Kazuha's a bit pissed off with him, but she thinks that it's her fault that he's gone all protective of her.
Then stuff happens and they go up to the Period Cube and they see Astrum, Sirent, a lot of unnamed angels and Radius all trying to defeat the Ark and get to God's Heritage. They kill the final boss and Shiki's like "Congratulations! :)" and they all get zapped up into the Period Cube. Astrum recognises his classroom rival but it's not expanded on, because it isn't his route.
Kazuha's like "No!!!! You can't do this!" and Shiki's like "I don't care if you hate me, I just want you to be happy," which is what every single yandere ever says, but it still sounds really hot. Then Natsu comes and Kazuha absorbs his memories, and we find out stuff, like that after she got hit by that car as a child, Shiki went into that weird book room with the Warden and got his idea to make the Period Cube from there.
Then stuff happens and both Kazuha and Shiki go into that world, and Kazuha wants to get the power to put everything back to the beginning and make the car accident never happen, so that Shiki will never turn into a crazy yandere. For some crazy reason, this wish actually comes true! I dunno how it worked, but the game's ENTIRE PLOT gets thrown out the window and it resets all the way back to Kazuha's childhood, where the car accident never happens, her and Shiki end up dating (that's absolutely minging, but just forget that they're related and it's alright then) and they all live happily ever after.
What the hell was up with that ending? I think that the writers didn't want Kazuha to go through having Shiki pay for his actions, so they just wanted to erase everything so that he didn't have to go to prison or anything. I have no idea how this game was apparently directed by the same person who did Sweet Fuse, where the characters have to actually pay for what they've done instead of having everything erased.
This route was awesome, but that ending was pure rubbish. Let's hope that the bad ending is much better.
I know Shiki's a piece of shit really, but I just love him. He's my favourite in the entire game now. I just love crazy hot yandere boys. As long as I pretend that the incest is not there, the romance is really, really nice. This route was exactly my cup of tea. It's not even Poyo-Poyo's route, but they just had to call it that to avoid spoilers. In most other paths Shiki was a bit annoying, but I found him quite intriguing. In fact, I like him so much that he's going to go on the Wall of Husbando Buttons that's on the blog's sidebar! EDIT: There's no Shiki button, only a Poyo-Poyo one... :(
Earlier I thought that this was my favourite route, and I doubted that a bit, but now I think that it's true. This is my favourite route. It's really absurd and stupid, but it's so crazy and trashy that it's good. I'm glad that this game ended with a bang (In my opinion, at least) and not with something disappointing.
I'm super glad that I ordered this game off Amazon. Actually, as soon as I heard that there were a lot of yanderes in it, I knew that I would enjoy it. If you haven't played this game yet (I dunno why you'd be reading this post though, since there's loads of spoilers), it's just worth picking up for the craziness and the yandere stuff. If you expect an intelligent plot and a strong heroine though, this game's probably not for you.
This concludes my final Period Cube route review. This isn't the final post I'm making on this game though. See you later!

Next time on Misty's Blog: You thought I was done with Period Cube, but no, there are still two more bad endings to go through first before I have fully completed it! Stay tuned for the next post, where I'll finally be done with this game!
