A Journey Through Period Cube's Bad Endings: Part Two

I'm back on my journey through Period Cube's interesting bad endings! This time I'll be reviewing Libera and Zain's endings only!

I don't really know what else to say before I start, except to beware of spoilers!

Libera's Ending

This ending was quite interesting indeed. This one also branches off from the rest of the route in the final fight scene with Shiki. The game's lagging because of all the people crowded by the Ark's entrance.

Libera starts to feel some pain, and Shiki says that it's probably his pain from the real world, and that he'll probably die if it doesn't get treated. In the real world, Riku left the hospital with Kazuha and went to her brother's apartment, so if he gets ill nobody's going to be there to save him.

Shiki tells Kazuha that she can either stop the Period Cube to save everybody, or to sacrifice all of the players to let the Cube run so that Riku can be saved. Libera's crying out in pain and his voice made me feel really sad. Kazuha gets really annoyed so she summons her Almighty powers to try and not hear anything. Libera's sad voice gets to her, so she decides to activate the Cube to save the poor boy.

Then she's in this weird library, and a younger version of Shiki pops up and speaks in this really low voice. He tells her that he'll give her what she's been looking for and all that, it's this weird magical book thing. I think this is all going on inside the Period Cube.

Then there's a time skip, and Kazuha is rushing to meet Riku for a date. He exclaims how he feels so much better now. They go to the convenience shop and see Natsu working there. Then they buy some food for a picnic. The couple walk into this field which looks exactly like one from Arcadia. There they sit and Riku says how he's so happy and that it feels like he's in a dream that'll never end. Kazuha says that it's one they'll never be able to wake up from. Then Riku states that he thought his mother would've punished him for staying out with her all day.

Inside her head, Kazuha says "That's why I eliminated her." She inner monologues and says how she wasn't needed in the new, perfect world where her and Riku will live together. Then she says that Shiki was right about using the Cube to make a new world, and that with the power of that weird book she managed to use it to create one just for Riku.

Then her and Riku kiss. They all then live happily ever after in their own little world.

The ending comes with such a cute looking CG!

It seems like literally every single ending in this game involves them staying in Arcadia forever. The only one that's not like that is the one with Radius. This ending wasn't that depressing really, except for the bit where Kazuha literally murders people to keep Riku happy. It's nice to see Kazuha going crazy for once, instead of the love interest. Still, I feel sorry for Riku. The other endings had the MC being treated badly which I was fine with, but when it's someone else getting the yandere treatment you just feel bad for them.

Now I'm just left wondering if Kazuha killed Shiki and Hiroya or not...

Zain's Ending

This ended mostly how I expected it to. Zain gains control of the Period Cube to create his own special world for him and Kazuha, but she begs him to stop, because it's just not right. Of course, he doesn't listen. At least he had the decency not to kill anybody. Instead, he sends all the players back to the real world, except Kazuha of course.

In the real world, Hiroya runs into the apartment and tries to force Kazuha to awaken. Shiki runs in and also tries the same thing, but they both fail. They're really sad and I feel super bad for them, especially poor Hiroya who feels that he didn't try hard enough to protect his friend.

Kazuha gets sent to the hospital, and Hiroya visits her there, promising that he'll never stop waiting for her. On his way out from the visit, he runs into Shiki, who gets super angry. He shouts at Hiroya, telling him that if he had just tried harder to protect Kazuha for him, then none of this would've happened. Hiroya bites back and asks Shiki what he was doing for her whilst she was in World V, which is 100% true. Kazuha's brother did hardly anything whilst she was trapped in that game, getting hurt by players and just having a hard time. The reply is that Hiroya's just useless and he doesn't understand why the Period Cube was created. Hiroya just leaves the hospital and goes home in a huff, whilst Shiki's crying. They might both be crying actually, I can't remember.

Kazuha's in World V, and she dreams that someone she loves is shedding tears for her. Then she says that there's no need to cry because she's super happy here. She meets up with Zain and he tells her how great it is that he's the only one who gets to be with her. The world's completely empty, there's nobody expect the two of them. Kazuha wakes Zain up every morning for the rest of their lives, whilst the people on the outside mourn her...

This ending was super cool, mainly because of the Hiroya and Shiki stuff. It was nice to see their reactions to things. Normally when those two die in the other bad endings, you don't really get to see much of Kazuha reacting to it. I just felt really bad for Hiroya, because I've had to watch him get friend-zoned in every single route except his own, and now his crush is in an eternal coma and he gets shouted at for not protecting her. Poor thing. I'm glad I'm doing his route now.

The Zain bit was obviously the bit I expected to come. I liked Zain at the beginning, when he was nice and sweet towards everybody. He didn't deserve to be turned into a yandere. Kazuha was still aware that what he was doing was bad until the very end, when she said that it was the only way to save everybody. Normally she just accepts the bad endings and whatever the love interest is doing to her.

I still liked Radius and Astrum's bad endings better though. But Zain's was interesting just because of the bit with Hiroya and Shiki.

So, I suppose this post is over now. Stay tuned until the next bad ending post, where I'll be completing the lot with whatever tragic finishes there are in Hiroya and Poyo-Poyo's routes.

See you all later!
