Hello, everybody, and welcome to my second Ikemen Revolution post. I have taken so many screenshots of this game this time, so the post should look a lot more colourful than my other ones. I was going to write this post tomorrow instead since I had something else planned for today, but a lot of interesting things happened that I really wanted to write about. Actually, today I even had enough magic crystals to buy a Premium Story, so I'm quite excited to talk about it!
(If you're wondering what I had also planned to post today, I was going to play another mobile otome and review one of the free stories on Love 365. The only reason I'm not playing console games right now is because it costs loads of money to buy new ones, and I don't want to exhaust the Vita's otome library in less than a year!)
So, let's get to the plot, shall we?
In the first two chapters, we got introduced to Jonah and his desire to make Alice fall in love with him, so that he could use her for the Red Army's benefit. Then he invites her on a little date, which is what the third chapter begins with.
So Alice goes out to meet Jonah, and he calls up a carriage to take them somewhere. His master plan for wooing Alice is to buy her affection, so he takes her to a dress shop and orders the entire shop in her size. That must cost a lot of money! Is he really sure that he wants to spend that much on a girl he's just met? Well, at least that tells us that he's not tight. You never want to date anybody who's cheap...
This excessive shopping does not please Alice at all, but if I were her I'd just accept it. You should never deny free stuff! But unfortunately, she just drags Jonah out of the shop before the transaction can be completed.
They get back in the carriage, and she tells Jonah that she would never be able to fit that many dresses in her room, so he then decides to take her to buy something a little bit smaller, because apparently, no woman can ever resist jewels. I don't think that's true, because I don't really like jewels that much. They're really pretty, but I always forget to wear them... Alice doesn't like jewels either. Well, she probably does, but she's just denying them because she doesn't like Jonah.
Jonah won't give up on his quest to buy Alice's affection, so he drags her probably every single shop in town, but she still doesn't want anything at all! Wow, I do have to admire her ability to deny free gifts...
Eventually, they just pile back into the carriage, both very annoyed with each other. Jonah wonders why Alice isn't smiling, but it's quite obvious why! Anybody would be like that if they were forced to go on a date with someone they don't like.
Alice replies with how she doesn't enjoy being forced to go on a date like this, but Jonah just gets annoyed and tells her that she has to smile, because he wants her to. He has a little mini-tantrum here, going on about how Alice should only look at him and nobody else, and all those other typical otome lines that make my heart flutter.
In the end, they both just give up and go outside for fresh air. That's when Alice spots a stand selling hot chocolate. Since she's someone who really likes sweet stuff, she immediately makes her way over to the stall. Jonah makes some snobby comment about it, but he still follows her anyway. He's even kind enough to buy some for her.
We then find found that Jonah also really likes sweets, and that he's really, really rich. Apparently each position in the Red Army belongs to a specific family. They then make the eldest son of each generation join up and take it. So Jonah's destiny of becoming the Queen of Hearts was decided long before he was born. Since that's such a high position, it means that he's from a very prestigious family. The Black Army doesn't follow those rules, instead they just made it so that each rank is just taken by the strongest man for the job. I didn't expect to get an explanation for any of this stuff, but I'm glad it's here, giving me a bit more depth into how Cradle works. I suppose this stuff would be called world-building.
This scene also gives us a bit of Jonah's blushing sprite, which is always appreciated by me.
The date is almost drawn to a halt when some random Red Army people pull up and tell Jonah that he has to go back home. Apparently, there's some stuff that he has to attend to. Alice sees this as the ultimate chance to get rid of him, so she's immediately saying goodbye and preparing to return to the Black Army. But Jonah stops her and tells her to come back with him. He doesn't want to kidnap her, he just wants to make up for their date being so lacklustre.
This is where the Premium Story begins.
So Alice and Jonah go off to the Red Army headquarters together. As soon as they arrive, they meet Edgar. I don't really know what his position is or if he has a route yet, but I'm sure I'll learn in time. He basically just calls Alice naive for coming to the HQ with Jonah all alone, because it's so obvious that she's going to get taken as a prisoner.
But Jonah comes to stick up for Alice, and tells Edgar that he would never do anything like that to Alice. The Queen of Hearts doesn't break promises, apparently. Edgar gets warned never to touch lay a finger on her without his permission.
Wow, Jonah seems to be quite possessive of Alice.
Jonah takes Alice away to a courtyard or something, and she asks him if he was actually being nice and protecting her. He denies it and says that he was just correcting his subordinate. But it's so obvious that he was actually sticking up for her.
Then he kisses her on the arm. It's described with a little bit of detail, because it's the Premium Story after all. I'm glad I shelled out my free crystals for this, because there'd probably be none of this in the Normal Story.
Jonah kisses Alice so that he can mark her before any other man takes her. I can't remember what her reaction to this was, but it was probably a lot worse than mine. I like stuff like this in my fictional romances, but some people would likely find this stuff absolutely horrible.
The Premium Story then just ended. I thought it would be a bit longer than that, but I got it for free so I can't really complain. There's no CG or voice acting, but I think a route's first Premium Story is always like this because they're usually really easy to get for free.
I'm finding this route a lot more interesting than a lot of the other ones I've played in mobile games. Jonah's starting to turn into my favourite Cybird love interest, and I hardly even know him! Ikemen Revolution's turned out to be quite enjoyable. I just wish that this was a proper console game, like IkeVamp. But it costs a lot of money to make full otome games like that, so it may not ever happen.
This concludes today's review. I'm starting to feel like these posts could probably help somebody who doesn't want to actually play the game still get the plot. Although, I've come across full forty-minute YouTube videos that recap entire mobage routes better than I can.
My next post is going to be on a Love 365 title that's out for free. I feel like I can't really criticise something that's being given to me for free, but I'm going to do it anyway. I've never actually played a Voltage route all the way through before, so this should be interesting. I'm not going to tell you what game it is yet, but all I can tell you is that it's one that I read the prologue to years ago and never actually played because it cost money. That line makes me sound like a massive cheapskate, doesn't it?
I'd better get back to reading that then, so I'll see you all later then! Goodbye!
