Code: Realize: Future Blessings: Final Thoughts/Finis Route Opinions

I had planned to finish this game yesterday, but I had to do real life stuff instead. It's not like I'm in a race or speed running it or anything. This morning I managed to complete it and get around eighty-six percent trophy completion for it. So, what are my final thoughts? What did I think of Finis' route? Read below to find out, but beware of spoilers!

Since I played Finis' route over a few days instead of just in a single day like Herlock's, the plot's not as fresh in my head so I can't do as detailed a summary. Instead I'll just focus on my thoughts and opinions instead.

You know how I usually play Code: Realize with the voices off? (If you don't know why, it's because I ended up making voices for each character in my head and it felt weird when I turned the sound up and heard them speak Japanese) Well, for this one I felt like turning Finis' voice on because I like it. I also had Hansel's voice on and Delacroix's for some of the time. I'm really glad I did, although I should've really put all of the voices on so I could appreciate all of the voice actors.

Anyway, let's get to talking about the actual route, shall we? This path starts off like every other Code: Realize route, with Cardia running away. A lot of the plot resembles Lupin's route, a bit like how Herlock's shared elements that were seen in Van Helsing's path. Cardia manages to get all the way back to her mansion in Wales before she's found by Finis, who ends up saving her from a mob of angry villagers. He then takes her back to Twilight's headquarters to use her for the grand terrorist plot Code: Realize.

There was something about Finis that I didn't really realise until reading his route. You know how when Finis dies, a new Finis body will just crop up? Well, I thought that they were all the same person, the same one Finis, but he was just a being who was able to have multiple bodies. Well, it turns out that they're all different Finises, but they happen to share the same memories. They're kind of the same, but separate entities. It's a bit hard to explain but if you've played the game you'll probably understand. So this route primarily focuses on one Finis for most of the story. I dunno if it's the same one who you see in the other routes, but he has the same memories so it might as well be.

Cardia spends the most of this route hanging around St. Paul's Cathedral with Finis, Nemo, and Aleister. She doesn't really do much, to be quite honest. Lupin and the gang don't play as big a part, except at the end in helping destroy the Nautilus. Finis takes a long time to actually warm up to her, because he's so dead set on his ambitions and his desire for his father's love. Cardia spends most of her interactions with him trying to convince him that their father's never gonna love them and that Code: Realize is actually a really horrible plan.

I think if I were to categorise Finis, he would be a tsundere. He's actually a lot like Delly, who he gets to meet near the end. They had a nice conversation together, with Delly telling him that he really shouldn't spend his time idolising his father and should instead just get on with his life like a normal person.

There's also a new character featured in this route, who goes by the name of Hansel. I've seen his face before on the Internet, and I'm glad that I've finally gotten to meet him. Now I really wish that he was a love interest. Even though he's part of Idea and wants to destroy Cardia at first, the writers could still give him a route like they did with Saint-Germain who wanted the same thing. After reading his backstory, it seems like Hansel would make a good yandere character, but then that would make his route (if he had one) a lot like Saint-Germain's. I really love his design, and his voice would be really nice if he didn't speak at a snail's pace.

Finis is really a villain for most of the route, until he finally initiates Code: Realize, meets his father (who won't love him) and falls out of the Nautilus. Then he gets rescued by Lupin's gang and acts pretty hostile to them, until he has a chat with Delly and thinks things over, then he's changed and is willing to help everybody rescue his sister.

This route doesn't have any romance at all, just some nice sweet sibling love. After Cardia is rescued and Isaac Beckford's plans are thwarted, they just go back to Wales and live there happily for the rest of their days, occasionally visiting Lupin and co. up in London.

I did enjoy this route quite a bit. Personally I find Finis really adorable. He had a rather deep character and had changed a lot by the end. Cardia taught him about love and all that stuff and that his father is actually not as nice as he thought he was. I think that it might actually be a bit better than Herlock's route, but that one was still pretty good. They did both have a lot of the same plot points as the routes from the original games, but I suppose that does make sense. I'm pretty sure that Finis' route even used some of the same CGs from Lupin's route outside of flashbacks.

This entire game was just a really good fan-disc in general. I'm excited to see what's inside Wintertide Miracles. Hopefully they'll give Hansel some more screen time, because they gave him a major role here, including a very long obligatory backstory monologue, even though it wasn't even his route. I don't know if they'll make more than three Code: Realize games, but since it's quite with Western otome fans and (presumably) in Japan, they might end up milking it like they do with Hakuoki since it's an easy money maker.

I don't know if I can compare Future Blessings to Guardian of Rebirth, because one's a fan-disc and the other's a standalone game. I do think that the art is even better here than it was before.

I just want to write something kind of unrelated quickly, but is it just me, or do otome kiss scenes always look super awkward? The love interest always looks alright, but the MC always has her eyes wide open and her face is expressionless. It always looks like it's been Photoshopped, like the LI was kissing someone else and they pasted her there instead.

Anyways, as you can probably tell, I really, really like Code Realize: Future Blessings. I'm glad that I got the Limited Edition version. I did promise to post pictures of said Limited Edition on this blog, but it looks like I haven't got around to doing it yet. It's just such a chore, taking photos on my phone then plugging it in to my laptop and putting them on this blog. Plus, you could always look at someone else's post.

I suppose I've written all I have to say about this game now. I'm playing Collar X Malice now, but I'm still in the prologue. I'm going to write my first impressions on it, but it's going to go in another post instead, and it's going to come later on in the day. Wow, I feel really hungry now.

See you all later!
