Since I read this route over three days, I'm trying to rack my brain to remember what happened and if I've already mentioned them or not. I've noticed that I usually tend to write more on the character interactions and stuff, especially if the plot is really long and complicated, like it is in a lot of these otome games. I'll probably end up doing the same here. My brain has so much stuff in it that I'm having to read my own blog to remember some of what happened before.... That doesn't mean that the story was boring or anything, it's just that I'm starving right now and my head aches a little bit. Yeah, I probably shouldn't be writing this right now, but I've been really wanting to do it all day.
So, after the period where Okazaki and Ichika avoid each other for reasons mentioned in a previous post, another conflict between them occurs! Okazaki tells our MC that he wants to die protecting her, and she gets super angry and ignores him for a few days. I know that she had a right to get angry and all that, but I couldn't help but feel sorry for my poor sweet boy as all of his friendly advances kept getting rejected. To be honest, I don't think that getting angry and avoiding Okazaki would really solve the problem. If it was me I probably would've burst into tears and given him a big hug, telling him that I didn't want him to die, or something along the lines of that. But he's really stubborn so it probably wouldn't have changed his mind. But anger didn't really solve much. I didn't really understand Ichika here, but I think I'm just judging her too harshly because I self-insert and get annoyed if the character does something that isn't what I would do. However, this was interesting because normally it's the LI who pushes the MC away, not the other way around.
The reason why Okazaki really wants to die protecting someone is because of an incident in his past. His co-worker (who turned out to be an Adonis spy) died protecting him and then just wasted his final words blaming it on poor Okazaki, causing him to live the rest of his life determined to die protecting someone, so that his life can have some kind of meaning. I thought that this backstory was really sad.
Luckily Ichika and her future lover made up, which made me happy. She slapped him and then used her words to convince him that if he dies, then he won't be able to live with her and experience the good things in life ever again.
Things seemed back to normal again, until the police tracked down the location of Adonis. Ichika got told through her collar that she could either visit their headquarters alone and join them, or Okazaki dies. :( Of course she didn't want him to die, so she decided to go to their HQ and do whatever they wanted. But she still had a few hours left yet, so Ichika hung around her apartment until her love interest (Sorry, I feel like I've typed in his name too many times now!) just turned up. Poor Ichika, she had to fake a smile and lie to him because she was forbidden to tell anybody about what she was about to do. :(
At least we got this CG out of it, though. In real life it would be super scary to be pinned down like that, but for some strange reason, I always like these scenes in otome games. After this the screen faded to black, I thought that they had sex or something, but they didn't. I actually also thought that this might've been a bad ending too.
Eventually the time came when she had to go to Adonis. But whilst she was walking there, guess who popped up? Of course it was Okazaki. I remember when he popped up, I was like "Oh dear." Because he's one of those possessive yandere types, he's always following Ichika. He was super angry that she hadn't told him about her deal with Adonis, which made me sad because it's always depressing when the love interest gets angry at the MC. Then I had to choose between two dialogue options and it was one of the hardest in-game choices I have ever had to make. I could either lie to Okazaki telling him that I'm in reality an Adonis spy and I was fooling him all along, or just tell him that I hate him, which would break his heart and probably mine too.
Oops, I just realised that I referred to Ichika in the first person. It's hard not to sometimes, especially when you self insert and the characters are calling you by your real name all of the time.
I couldn't bear to hurt Okazaki by making Ichika say that she hated him (even though it's a lie), so I chose for her to lie about being a spy instead. I was so glad that he didn't believe her. He told her that he was super sad that she never told him about this, even though his life was potentially at stake. They decided to go to Adonis together, instead of Ichika having to do it alone.
At this point, I had fallen pretty hard for Okazaki. He might actually be one of my favourite otome boys of all time. He's definitely husbando potential.
Anyways, they went to wherever Adonis is located, but it was really empty. But then that Sanjou bloke showed up. I didn't really mention him in any of the other posts but he's a really bad guy. (Sorry, I just assume that whoever reads these posts has already played the games, so that's why I don't explain everything.) Him and Okazaki had a bit of a contest with their guns, the prize being the removal of Ichika's collar. Of course Okazaki won. Then the building started crumbling so they had to escape.
They went into this weird church-like room. The background for it kind of resembled the place where Ichika's collar got put on. They met this man, he's part of Adonis but he's also the prime-minister's, if I remember correctly. His pale green hair and red eyes reminded me of Sasazuka. I wonder if they're secretly related? Then something I can't remember happened, and it ended with Ichika taking a bullet for Okazaki.
It felt like she was going to die, I was worried that I might've been heading for a bad ending. Okazaki carried her out, whilst she confessed her love for him as she was losing consciousness. I find romantic scenes like this really cute for some reason. But not long after she said "I love you!", the credits rolled, and I thought that it might've been a normal ending where she dies. Luckily it wasn't!
I don't remember much about the after credits scene, except this line because I screenshotted it. It seems that Okazaki might have the potential to be a pretty extreme yandere, maybe even one worse than Toma! But I found this line kind of attractive, I dunno why, I just like these messed up characters, except Toma because he just sucks.
I'm sorry that I didn't remember lots of stuff! If only I had eaten something beforehand, this post would've probably been a lot better. Oh well, it's too late now.
This route was so awesome, even if I didn't really like Ichika at times. The romance levels really ramped up at the end, giving me some pretty awesome CGs. Okazaki is just so lovely. At first I thought he was going to be a bit too much of a cute dork, but he ended up being a lot more than that. He's just so sweet and kind, but with a bit of yandere sprinkled in there to keep things interesting. There was an extra short story I unlocked too, a bit like the ones you get in Amnesia. Not much happened but it was quite cute. Even though Ichika and Okazaki were dating and sleeping together in that story, she still didn't call him by his first name. There's probably a reason for that though. There's also this other feature I unlocked, I forgot what it's called but it's where you click different scenarios on a date and Okazaki says a line or two. It's just fluff really, but I like stuff like that.
Even though there's a lot of plot here, there's still quite a bit of romance to keep someone like me satisfied. I think that the otome I've played with the least amount of dating stuff is probably Hakuoki, and that was one of the first I played.
I would really like to get the fan-disc for Collar X Malice, but it's in Japanese. Luckily I think someone out there's translating it. But I still have the first game to finish first.
I've already started my second route. I wanted to play Sasazuka's, but I wasn't really sure what choices to pick, so I breezed through the common route in five minutes with a walk-through. It turns out that a lot of the choices I had made before to get Okazaki were the same as the ones required for Sasazuka. I'll leave my thoughts on that for another post though, because I'm super hungry.
Wow, I did write a lot, considering that I thought that I wouldn't be able to remember much of it. I had to do most of this post on my Raspberry Pi, and then use my laptop to insert the CGs in, because the charger for my Pi is also used for my Vita to plug it in for image transfers. I could've done the whole post on my laptop but I was unable to at the time.
That's enough rambling for me, I need to eat something! See you all later!!
