Enomoto's Route: Final Thoughts

(I've gone back to giving my posts regular titles now.)

Today I sat down with my cat and completed Enomoto's route. Of course I enjoyed it. This game hasn't really disappointed me yet, and that's good because I had super high expectations for it. Luckily I managed to get the good ending without issues, even though I was getting worried that I might've messed up some of the choices.

I'm just going to leak out all of my thoughts on it down here. Unfortunately I didn't bother to take any screenshots so there's not going to be any images below. Sorry. Also beware of spoilers.

I just realised that for someone with a poisonous collar round her neck, Ichika acts so calm. She hardly even mentions it at all except in the common route and near the end of whatever route she's in. If it was me I'd be really panicking, but she's super brave for someone in that situation. Ichika's just overall a decent MC. She goes quite well with Enomoto since they feel more like equals than the others. He's only two years older than her so that's probably why.

It didn't feel like there was as much romance in this route as the others, but I may have just forgotten about most of it. Enomoto's a bit of a dork when it comes to girls, so there were a lot of awkward but hilarious scenes with him and Ichika. To me his sprite looked so different to how he looked in the CGs. Most otome characters always differ slightly in their CGs but I noticed it a bit more here. I think it's just because literally every CG from this route had a side view of his face whereas the sprite is a front view instead. It doesn't really matter anyway, it's just something I wanted to point out.

Ichika's relationship with her brother actually got better thanks to Enomoto. Kazuki was only a brat for about twenty percent of the route, so that was good. This weird girl wearing bunny ears gave Ichika some tickets to his concert, so Ichika took Enomoto and a few of her coworkers. The show was almost the same as how it was in Sasazuka's route, except that it ended up with the bunny girl threatening to shoot Kazuki. I thought that she was a bit weird initially, but not a psycho like she turned out to be. She worked for Adonis and killed Enomoto's senior only a few months prior. The reason she threatened Ichika's brother was because she didn't want Isshiki (the musician person who was wrongfully arrested, and Kazuki's friend/fellow performer) to hang out with him or something? I can't remember exactly, but that girl was crazy. But then when she got captured her memories were erased. But anyways, Enomoto managed to get Kazuki to be nicer to his sister, and they all end up getting along very well. Akito's also there once but nobody knows that he's working for Adonis. I think he almost sets a bomb off but decides not to, because earlier he had a chat with Ichika and I think that made him feel better or something, I dunno.

I've noticed that every route so far has mainly dealt with two Adonis pawns, one who commits a crime and they capture, and another one who already committed a crime but they just have to track them down or prove them guilty or something. The other Adonis person in this route was that white haired man, Ogata, I think he's called. He was in Okazaki's route too. He started off as just a regular man who just wanted to be a hero, but then he turned into a nutjob and helped Adonis out. They released him from prison as not guilty for stabbing Rika Sugawara's killer, so then he decided to go on TV a lot, call Enomoto up to the former location of the May X-Day incident. Then he really pissed Enomoto off (whilst streaming it online), causing him to get a punch in the face. The public didn't know what was really going on because the stream had no sound, so they all thought that Enomoto was in the wrong and began disliking him. This was in the fifth or sixth chapter.

In all of my other Collar X Malice posts, I haven't really been talking about the crime solving stuff as much. Normally I talk about the romance and characters more, but here I haven't really done that yet. I wonder why?

In this route I also found out that Adonis put collars on all of the people they considered criminals. I wonder what Ichika did to deserve one then? I know she says that she did nothing, but I feel like in either Yanagi or Shiraishi's route, we're gonna find out something more about here backstory... I think that Yanagi is the game's canon love interest, so his route's probably gonna have a lot of plot stuff in it, and we're gonna find out loads about Adonis.

I should talk about the romance stuff now. The love confession from Enomoto actually came earlier than the others I think, but it took Ichika some time to decide how she would answer that. He probably turned out to be the most normal boyfriend out of the three love interests I've been through so far in this game. Okazaki was cute but a yandere and Sasazuka was possessive and he still calls his lover an idiot at times, but Enomoto's just normal. He reminds me of Impey from Code: Realize a little bit sometimes because he's just the nice flirty one who usually ends up being the comic relief. This type of character isn't my favourite, but sometimes it's nice to have them in a game because they're so positive and cute. Normally I end up liking the dark, mysterious ones the best, or the evil ones. I don't know why really to be honest, but that's just what I'm into I suppose.

Anyways, Enomoto's route was really good. He's not my favourite character, but I still enjoyed this quite a bit. I didn't really go into much detail on the plot and stuff here, but oh well. I'm going to end this post off now. Goodbye.

(Next I'm probably going to do Shiraishi's route because Yanagi, while I like him quite a bit, he seems like the kind of guy you leave for last. His route might be locked until I complete all of the others anyway.)
