That Was Awesome!

(Major spoilers for Code: Realize: Future Blessings down below!!!)

Wow, Impey's after story was simply amazing! It might even be my favourite so far! In the original game I didn't really care for Impey that much, but now I really really like him. His entire route was so happy and there wasn't really much conflict at all, it was just pure fluffiness.

The plot in this one was that Impey really needed funding for his research on travelling to the moon. He's also secretly working with Victor on a medicine that cures Cardia's poison. Saint-Germain manages to get the Queen to fund his project under one condition: he helps build a submarine for a massive international engineering fair thing, which Impey accepts.

Impey, Cardia and Victor work on the submarine, using material from the Nautilus to build it. Cardia feels slightly left out when Victor and Impey discuss their secret project together, but she's not really bothered by it enough for it to become the main conflict in the story.

They finish building the submarine (It's called something else in the game, but I can't remember what!) and go out into the ocean to test it out. It's funny, they're out in the ocean, not far from the mainland, and either Impey or Cardia point out that there are flying fish in the water. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that there are flying fish in the English Channel. Sorry, that's just a little nitpick I noticed that didn't affect my enjoyment of the game.

I do love the sea, so I was really happy that they actually got to travel through it! In all the other routes they don't really leave London, it's nice to finally have a bit of adventure. Impey and Cardia test out the submarine and they go deep, deep, down to the bottom of the sea, and we get my new favourite CG in the entire game:

Every single CG in this route looked stunning. We even got a hot shower CG of Impey, which was a nice bit of fan service. This scene was absolutely beautiful, almost so beautiful that it could make one cry. The romance here is probably the most normal, the most healthy relationship I have ever seen in one of these games. In Impey's original route I felt awkward self-inserting because I thought that the romance was so cheesy, but here I really enjoyed it and had no problems projecting myself into the story.

Not long after this, Impey hands Cardia the potion he was developing with Victor, and they have one of the most adorable kiss scenes ever, which leads into the credits.

After the credits is one of the awesomest weddings I have ever witnessed. Instead of in a church, it's held on an airship, with Impey and Cardia being launched through the sky! It's so much better than Victor's wedding scene, where they just pass by the church and just suddenly say their wedding vows with no preparation and no guests. (That might not've actually been their official wedding though.)

If you had asked me one week ago whether Impey's after story would end up being my favourite, I would've called you crazy. But here we are, where this turned out to be the sweetest, most fun route I've ever played. I bet if I went and replayed Impey's original route now, I'd enjoy it a lot more. I cannot actually believe that I finished this all in one sitting! The others were completed in around two to three plays, but this one, featuring what was my least favourite character, I didn't want to put down!

I think I'm going to have to provide a ranking of all of the after stories I've read so far, one being my favourite and four being my least favourite.

1. Impey's
2. Lupin's
3. Van Helsing's
4. Victor's

I did like all of them, but I think Victor's is my least favourite because it was the least fluffy and had the most plot. I really like Van Helsing's too, but I think Lupin's was better. And Impey's is just the best because it had the most adventure, the cutest moments and the best CGs.

Every time I play another route, I always think about the blog post I want to write about it. If it wasn't for otome, I would be too lazy to write, so I'm going to have to thank these games for giving me a reason to exercise my writing skills. Even if nobody reads it, at least I'm writing something! And this blog documents a very niche genre of games where there isn't too much information on.

I'm feeling so happy right now, I think Impey's route put me in a very good mood. Today was a good day regardless. Hopefully this post is brightening up someone's day or at least entertaining someone. Thank you very much if you're reading this, and have a nice day!
