Code: Realize: Future Blessings

Guess what I finally got around to play? I suppose you would already know if you read the title. Yes, I finally played the Code: Realize fan-disc, and it was amazing. I played it until my Vita's battery was almost dead, which actually wasn't as long as you expected since the battery was at fifty percent, but I still played it for quite a while without stopping!

(Spoilers down below!)

I think Aksys did a much better localisation on this one. The characters speak less American and more British, which makes it feel more immersive. There aren't many typos... yet.

Since Van Helsing's my favourite character, I decided to play his after story first. Usually I end up regretting playing my favourite first since I always end up missing them when playing every other route, but I still do it anyway.

Straight away we got a kiss CG (They actually managed to fix Cardia's poison!), and I actually squealed in delight like a crazy fangirl, even though I'd seen it floating around on the Internet before. He's gotten quite a few nice CGs so far with Cardia, more touchy-feely kissing ones than what we got in his original route where they were mostly either just him standing there looking handsome or him in an intense battle, using his gun. The artists even drew more pretty backgrounds and composed a few more BGM tracks, all of which I like very much.

This time I'm playing it with the voice acting on. (Last time I played it so much with the sound off that I made my own voices for the characters that ruined it for me once the sound was on and I heard their Japanese voices, so I had to turn the voice acting off.) I don't really recognise anybody's voices that well, and everybody sounds a lot different from how I imagine them, but I don't really mind because all of the actors did a great job. They all use different names for each other in the Japanese dubbing. Whenever they refer to Delly it sounds like they're calling him "Doro-Chan". Impey's voice sounds super lively, I actually like his voice quite a bit. All of the voices suit the characters quite well.

Van Helsing has changed quite a bit from the man he was in the original game. He's a lot more lovey-dovey now. Him and Cardia go on all of these cute dates like a normal couple and it's quite nice, but I still kind of miss the angstiness that was in his original route. Van Helsing's like the perfect boyfriend, but almost too perfect. And Cardia thinks the same. (By the way, you can't make any choices in these after stories, so there's no story branches or nothing.) So she told him how she felt, and he became really sad and just started avoiding her.

He decides to sit in the pub alone and he comes across Lupin and Impey, and they decide to take him on a boy's shopping trip. According to them it's just a normal lovers' quarrel that he's going through. It's quite nice seeing the three of them act like normal friends. There wasn't much time for that in the first game because of all the intense plot stuff. Then they come across Delly. Delly gets super annoyed with Van Helsing and really screams at him. The voice actor was doing some real intense screaming into the microphone. That seemed to snap Van Helsing back into shape, so he runs back home to Cardia and then.... I don't know what happens next, because my Vita's battery got low at that point. What will happen next? I suppose I'll have to find out tomorrow...

So, what do I think of the game so far? I think it's obvious that I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm loving the cute romancy stuff with Van Helsing. I think I needed it after he basically just pushed Cardia away for 90% of his route. Sometimes I do miss having a deep plot, which I didn't expect, but it's nice to have some cute, fluffy stories for once after playing Sweet Fuse, which was very plot heavy.

I did promise to post some pictures of the fancy limited edition version of Future Blessings I have, but I'll do that next time. I think it's time for me to do something else now. Goodbye!
