More Thoughts On Okazaki's Route

If you're wondering why this screenshot is here, it's because I wanted to point out one of the many strange grammatical errors that are in Collar X Malice. There's nothing grammatically incorrect here, except the character is referring to the MC as Ichika, even though I changed her name to something else. This happened twice. Another common mistake is that sometimes the writers/translators got the character names all mixed up, causing a lot of confusion for me. I'm not going to let these errors detract from my enjoyment of the game though. I'm just pointing this out in case Aksys Games happen to be reading this, because they really need to hire some proofreaders, because a lot of their games have these problems.

Anyways, I'm now pretty far into Okazaki's route. There's probably going to be one more post on it after this one, then I will have finished dumping all of my thoughts on it to the world.

Also, if you want to listen to music whilst reading this, may I recommend Okazaki's character song? It's sounds quite bright and happy, it suits his character quite well.

And don't forget, there are lots of spoilers down below.

So, lots of things have happened in the game since I last posted. There's been some conflict in the story between Ichika and Okazaki. Normally a lot the of otomes that I've played like to keep everything happy and sweet, meaning that the heroine usually gets on quite well with her chosen love interest.

The conflict wasn't like a proper fight really. What happened was that Ichika got attacked by that Rika girl (who is also really horrible, like the other two Rikas I've seen in otome games), who accidentally exposed her collar to the world. Okazaki pointed a gun at Ichika, because for all he knew, she could've been a terrorist. Even though he does care for her quite a bit, he's so dedicated to his job that he'll shoot anyone if he really has to. Obviously he didn't shoot, because I haven't made enough mistakes yet to get a bad ending.

They ended up not talking to each other for a week because of this incident. Okazaki really didn't want to tell the police about the collar to protect Ichika, even though it was probably the right thing to do. But of course, they make up eventually.

That's around the time that we get the CG that you see on your left. Doesn't he have such a cute face? Ichika and Kei (I'm tired of using his last name now so I'm just gonna use his first name) make a pinky promise and it's just a really nice scene. The romance levels in the story are starting to increase now. Kei promises to protect our heroine and tells her not to visit Yanagi and the others very much. He says a lot of stuff that a yandere would say, but I don't mind because I like a bit of possessiveness in my otome boys. Also, apparently Kei has just found something he's been looking for for ages, and Ichika has absolutely no idea what it is, even though it's pretty obvious. He's finally found somebody to protect, so that's quite nice I suppose. It sounds like he must've been a bit lonely before.

Later on, there's another fluffy scene between Ichika and Kei. He just appears at her front door one day, and Ichika lets him in. But he says the same thing that every otome LI says when the MC lets them into their house: "Why are you letting a strange man in? You've got to be more careful, because men are wolves!" Why do so many otome game characters say this? It's like they're trying to warn their players so that they don't let people who are like the kinds of weirdos that you find in otome games into your house in real life. (Oh dear, that was a very long sentence.)

Kei comes in and Ichika treats him to some nice home baking, which apparently he has never experienced before. Then he tries out her pillow, because sleeping happens to be one of his favourite hobbies. This causes Ichika to also fall asleep on the sofa. She wakes up to her brother walking into the room, wondering who the strange man sleeping on the floor is. The brother's name is Kazuki or something, right? He acts like your typical bratty teenage boy and dresses like a rapper. He must be hiding something suspicious. That friend of his (Who you can see in the first image at the top of the page) also acted a bit fishy too. Hopefully we'll be able to find out more about this plot later.

But then the fluffy scene ends because oh no! there's another one of those X-Day attacks. And I think I might've read a bit further than that, but not very far because I can't remember much afterwards. Also, I dunno if I'm actually that far through because I've still got quite a lot more affection points to get, and there are loads of CGs I haven't gotten. I heard that the bad endings give you CGs, which is quite cool.

For a bit of the game I plugged in my Vita into my Bose iPod dock and listened to the BGM and voices through it. It did sound quite nice! I don't use that dock much, even though I still use my iPod often.

The MC's quite interesting, I suppose. I dunno if they're gonna give her a backstory or anything. I think that when you self-insert into a game like me, you judge the heroine more harshly because she's representing you. Ichika's quite strong and very stubborn at times, quite unlike me. I'm still managing to self-insert alright, except when the game forgets that the MC name is a changeable variable and just refers to me as "Ichika" anyway! If the MC was a carbon copy of me though, nothing would ever get done and the story would probably end with everybody dead. I'm a lot more of a doormat than MCs like Ichika, but I'm probably still less of a pushover than the Diabolik Lovers MC.

This post was less of a thought dump and more of a plot summary, really. Tomorrow, I predict that I'll finish it before lunchtime, so I'll be able to release my final thoughts out to the world. Until then though, I'll have to say goodbye. Bye. I know I'm still rubbish at ending posts.
